Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend, or sometimes, a bit earlier. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up these handfuls. Expect these things when necessary. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.
The Pick: Cordlane Jacket – $59.90 ($69.50), Premium Cotton Polo – $14.90 ($19.90)
Hold the phone… one of the beefs a few of us have with UNIQLO jackets is their long arms / chopped tail proportions. But then there’s this review for the Cordlane Jacket: “I’m 6 feet and 165 pounds, and unlike so many of the other jackets which are unaccountably short and small, as though intended for teenage girls, this fits very well, long enough in the body and arms.” Hm. Just partially lined too, which is a big plus. For the polo, their Premium Cotton Polo is as close as it gets to the ol’ discontinued Mossimo trim-fit polos… only better. 100% cotton that’s smooth, lightweight but not flimsy, and the collars even seem to hold a good shape throughout the day. Medium fits my frame extremely well. Arm hits mid to upper bicep and is well fitted.
The Picks: Suede Tie Driving Mocs – $103.60 ($148), Cedar Shoe Valet – $89.60 ($128)
Brooks Brothers has been running Father’s Day specials all this week, and today it’s 30% off “select” accessories & ties. But this also includes shoes, which makes the awfully tempting suede driving moc available for just over a hundred bucks.
The Pick: Neiman Marcus Charcoal or Pinstripe suit – $299.40, Hickey Freeman “Lindsey” Navy Pinstripe or “Milburn” grey stripe suit – $389.35
Discount isn’t limited to the highest priced item in your shopping cart, but instead everything. Anyone have direct experience with these Neiman Marcus branded suits? They just arrived on Lastcall.com. Meanwhile, the Hickey Freeman suits are made in the USA, seem to be half-canvassed(?), and the Milburn got a nice review over at Sierra Trading Post. Free shipping no min. with FRSHIP.
The Pick: Unstructured Ludlow Sportcoat in Italian Oxford Cloth – $159.60 ($248), Ludlow Sportcoat in Italian Linen – $229.60 ($348), Paperclip Tie Bar – $38.50 ($65)
Now with extra items added to the sale section. Hat tip to Jamie who wrote in singing the praises of the oxford fabric on that blazer (seems to be hanging out in-store on some clearance racks for even less?). It’s sort of a hunting-style meets the beach kind of setup, so know that it’s real casual. Could you just use a real paper clip as a tie bar on your ties? Probably, but at least file down the edges so they don’t snag and shred your ties.
The Picks: Wolverine 1000 Mile Boots – $245 ($350), Filson Travel Bag – $206.50 ($295) Ernest Alexander Brief – $206.50 ($295), Peak Lapel Linen Sportcoat – $195.30 ($279)
UPDATE: Unlike previous tiered sales, this code is now not valid on 3rd party merchandise. Apologies for that, and thanks to everyone in the comments for pointing out that switch. Meanwhile, thanks to IronRinn, Mike A., Brian C., Tim, Eric C., and RunDadRun for the tips on the Wolverine 1000k (2nds, so, slight nicks in the quality) showing up over at Sierra Trading Post. That’s a monster deal. Both the standard toe and Addison wingtip-style are over there, with sizes going fast. Code STFD6113 takes an extra 35% off, leaving them under $150.
UPDATE II: Many thanks to Dan for sending in this tip. Gilt City is running a $50 for $100, $100 for $200, $250 for $500 deal at “Onward Reserve“. They carry Filson, so if you were to buy that $200 in credit for $100, you could get a Filson Brief for $125.
Also worth a mention: Cole Haan has launched an up-to 50% off sale on select items plus free shipping no min. w/ FREEGROUNDSHIP. GILT is running a sale on some flight-style watches from the brand AVI-8 (oh how clever), just make sure you know GILT’s return policy before you make the jump. Speaking of knowing the return policy (store credit only), Jackthreads is doing 20% off $65 w/ SAVE20 and 25% off $100 with SAVE25. Christopher Ward is still offering 15% off watches & accessories with FATHER15. Ralph Lauren has launched a spend $125 save $25 code: LRLSUM25.
NOTE: The Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale for Men launches tomorrow. Since their half-yearly sales are mainly a clearance, it’s not quite as “big” as their Anniversary Sale (new fall goods marked down later on in Summer), but it’s still worth a good long look. Expect that tomorrow.
Plus a Christmas album you probably haven't heard yet this year. Maybe.
With a focus on holiday events. It's their last sale before their shipping cutoff.
