Brooks Brothers Suits, New Shinola, & More – The Friday Handful

Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend, or sometimes, a bit earlier. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up these handfuls. Expect these things when necessary. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.

Rue La La: Brooks Brothers Event

The Picks: Golden Fleece Fitzgerald Fit Grey 2-button suit – $499 ($1600), Navy Fitzgerald Fit 2-button suit – $499 ($1600), Green Heather Slim Fit Polo – $29.90 ($64.50), Red Paisley Silk Tie – $34.90 ($79.50)

This is a bit of an odd-sizes clearance, so probably good if you’re a 36R or 42L… not so good if you’re a 40 or 38. Five hundred bucks is a ton of dough, but not when you consider the made-in-the-usa, full canvas construction, Golden-fleece status of these suits. At least, the grey one on the left is labeled as golden fleece (the navy has the same retail price, just not that distinction in the description?). A few other ties and polos to look at too.

UPDATE: Rue La La is like Gilt, Haute Look, Beyond the Rack, etc… “Flash” sale sites that require you to hand over an email address before you can shop. Just a heads up.

Target: “Save up to 30% on gifts for Dad”

The Pick: Merona Men’s Tailored Club Chino Shorts – $20.00 ($24.99)

Best shorts ever. Especially the light blue, red, and turqouise that are an oxford-like cloth. And they’re now twenty bucks. Really would like it if Target would crank out the oxford cloths in pant form. Lots of colors to pick from, and if twenty bucks is too steep, there’s always the basic Merona chino short, now down to $13. Looks like this promotion ends Saturday.

Gilt City: 30% off Full Priced B.R. in-store… blazers not excluded?

The Picks: Blue Wool/Linen Blazer – $175 ($250), Grey Linen/Cotton Blazer – $138.60 ($198)

Hat tip to Chip for sending in the style tip on this one. This is a Gilt City “offer” that costs nothing. You RSVP, get an email, and head in-store. But the restrictions don’t mention anything about blazers or Men’s suit jackets: “Offer excludes full-priced Monogram, Heritage, 100% Cashmere, Men’s Performance Collection, BR Picks, Designer Collections & Collaborations and third party branded merchandise (i.e. Spanx, Adidas)” … Interesting. Nabbing a discount on BR suit jackets and blazers has been a royal pain as of late. But IF this works, AND they’re carrying your size in store, you could maybe get the wool/linen seen above for $175, or the has-huge-potential grey linen/cotton blazer over here for under $140.

Yoox: Summer Sale + Extra 13% off w/ 13BIRTHDAY

The Pick: Doucal’s Penny Loafer – $102.66$117.45 ($235 – $248)

The sheer magnitude of stock at yoox is overwhelming. There’s too much to browse through, so be prepared to filter and then filter some more. Spring + summer styles are now up to 50% off, standard shipping is free (returns are $6.95 for the shipping label), and the code 13BIRTHDAY takes an extra 13% off.  Those loafers are made in Italy, have come down nicely in price, and look to have a perfect toe. If they don’t have your size in the cheaper option, try the more expensive option over here.

J. Crew: 30% off w/ THEBEST (extended through 6/9)

The Pick: Ludlow Sportcoat in Italian Linen – $229.60 ($348)

This was originally set to expire yesterday, but has since been extended through the weekend. Suiting is excluded, but blazers + sportcoats are fair game. The herringbone Italian linen blazer in “khaki black”, seen above, just got put on sale for $20 off. Add the code on top of that and you get a nicely priced (for J. Crew) well made linen blazer for $230. An investment, but the color is something you could wear year round, and it should look dynamite with jeans. Original picks for this sale over here.

BONUS: form•function•form: New button-stud Timex

The Pick: Black Dial + Suede Band = $94.00

UPDATE: These are live and for sale over at the FFF Site.

The FFF guys posted a teaser photo to their Facebook page of the next step in their button-stud + timex setup. They’ve taken a newer dive style Timex and slipped their button stud band on it. Cost? Not known as of post time.

Meanwhile, in other watch news, remember Shinola? Shinola just released seven new versions of their built-in-Detroit watches and… they sold out immediately. At $550 a pop. Ouch.

Also worth a mention: Bloomingdale’s is offering an extra 20% off w/ JUNEFRIENDS. J. Crew Factory is 40% off in-store only all weekend long. Lands’ End / L.E.C. is doing 30% off one regular priced item w/ PLANT & 6710. Lord & Taylor’s Friends and Family sale is still going on, with an extra 25% coming off almost everything when you use the code FRIENDS.
