Brooks Brothers Semi Annual Sale June 2013 – The Picks

Brooks Brothers Semi Annual Sale: 6/17 – 7/2

Ah June. Women are wearing their summer dresses, every so often a trickle of sweat runs down your rib cage, and bodies start showing up in strange places. That, and retailers start to try and move some of their old stock out, all while separating you from the cash in your checking account.

First it was Nordstrom, and now Brooks Brothers has launched their own semi-annual mega sale. But be warned: Shipping can eat up a lot of the savings during these Brooks Brothers events, and sizes are few and far between at this time of year. Picks below all had a decent size selection at post time, but stuff can move fast.

Four Non-Iron Slim or Extra Slim Fit Shirts – $52.80 per shirt (usually $88 per)

Bulk buy for the deal.

For the guys who: A. Really like Brooks Brothers shirts, and B. don’t mind buying in bulk. Buy four and you get 40% off. Usually $352 for four, now $211.20. An investment, but you get four quality shirts out of it. Don’t feel like buying in bulk? Head over to Nordstrom and check out their slim-fit BB shirts there. A few styles to pick from, plus they ship free and cost $58.96 a pop.

Fitzgerald Fit Seersucker Sport Coat – $278.60 ($398)

The summer splurge?

There’s been a surge of dark seersucker these last few years… and that’s a good thing. Still puckered, still cool, just in a darker color that’ll transition nicely into the evening… or even the fall. Might as well wear it in the fall. It’s $280 afterall. Fitzgerald fit is closer, but not as close (or as short) as the Milano.

Tie-Stripe Magnetic Money Clip – $28.50 ($38)

Leave the metal at home when it’s sunny.

J. Crew Factory used to make super-cheap versions of these, and since they stopped it’s been hard to find an affordable, casual money clip with some personality. Perfect for carrying cash when you’re in a summer suit, or in casual gear year round.

Stripe Suede D-Ring Belt – $58.50 ($78)

Made in Italy

The striped belt thing only this time made from different materials. Not grosgrain or cotton, but instead different colors of suede. Terrific looking D-ring buckle. A year round belt for sure. Made in Italy.

Superga Canvas Sneakers – $48.75 ($65)

Navy and black also available.

Superga is sorta like the Converse of Italy. The issue here is the shipping. Almost nine bucks. You’re almost better going with a similar style with the free shipping / returns of Nordstrom or Zappos if you’re not quite sure they’ll work.

Slim Adjustable Lap Top Case – $223.50 ($298)

Made in the USA

Sharp enough for just about any workplace, but not stuffy or old fashioned. Ballistic Nylon with Buffalo leather accents. 15.25″ wide. Clean and mean. Seems to dip under $200 a few times a year. Sorta a Murdered Out Jack Spadey lookin’ thing, only instead of being imported like almost all Jack Spade stuff, this one is made in the USA.

Milano Oxford Cloth  Chinos – $65.98 via Nordstrom ($73.87 @ BB)

Better deal at Nordstrom.

Thought these looked familar. The slimmest Milano fit pant in an oxford cloth. The catch is they’re actually less expensive through the Nordstrom Half Yearly sale for men. Lots of sizes left over there, plus they ship/return free.

Goodyear Welted Moc Boots – $186.00 ($248)

Rubber studded sole on these.

Not bad for a Goodyear welted casual boot. Great looking shape and color will do well with jeans in the fall. Made in Mexico.

Allen Edmonds for Brooks Brothers Cap toe or Perforated Cap Toes – $276 ($368)

Made in the USA of course.

You’re basically looking at the Park Ave. or Strand. Play your cards right and you could get either of those two AE models for less, but you’ll have to be patient and hang out for a future sale.

Snapper Lace BB#2 Cuff Links – $168.75 ($225)

Insta-heirloom

So let’s say you’re getting married this summer and your betrothed wants to get you a wedding day present of some sort, but doesn’t have a clue (maybe you are that person and you’re on this site looking for ideas). They’re a splurge, but these things are incredible. Based on a classic style from the 1920’s. Silver plated and made in the USA. Much better looking than the Simpson family Pig cufflinks.

Knot cufflinks in Sterling Silver or Gold Plated Silver – $71.25 ($95)

“knot”… made in the US. (That’ll slay em’)

Or there’s these. Not going to go out of style any time soon. There are cheaper versions lurking from other retailers out there, but at least the silver is sterling here. Imported.

Red Fleece Piped Jersey Polo – $44.63 a piece IF you buy both

BB tries to young up their customer base.

From their new, youngest leaning “Red Fleece” line. Reminiscent of Club Monaco’s pajama pique polo. Four button placket, jersey cotton, and… is that a tonal logo at the hem? SHADES OF AMERICAN EAGLE!?! Hey… at least it’s tonal. One of those “buy 2 get 25% off, buy 4 get 40% off” deals. Just two color options for this style of polo though.

Goodyear Welted Chelsea Boots – $223.50 ($298)

Suit worthy boots.

Moly. Available in black or tan (very limited sizes on the black). Absolutely suit worthy. Made in Mexico, Goodyear welted, Dainite rubber sole and the shape is downright perfect.

Striped Ribbon Belt – $32.16 (via Nordstrom) Madras Belt – $36.00 ($48)

Hot weather waist wrappers.

Chalk another win up for Nordstrom’s half-yearly sale for men. The striped belt comes in four color combos, plus ships & returns free through Nordstrom at a lower price. Both belts won’t see work once the snow starts flying. But fun all the same, and now under forty bucks.

Italian Suede Bit Loafers – $149.00 ($298)

Not a conservative penny loafer.

The majority won’t go near bit loafers. They require a bit of… panache? to pull off. Your shoes are wearing jewelry afterall. Made in Italy, genuine suede uppers, grippy sole. Brooks Brothers suggests sizing up.

Fitzgerald Fit 1818 Suit – $698.60 ($998)

All-American

The standard. Expensive as all get out (they do seem to drop further during buy 2 get X% off sales) but Made in the USA, a closer but not tight fit, and a button stance and jacket tail that are timeless. Most of us will default to the Ludlow or SuitSupply when looking for a half-canvassed suit, but Brooks Brothers has been around for almost 200 years for a reason. Available in Navy, Navy Stripe, Grey, Grey Stripe, and Black.

Smoking Jacket – $748.50 ($998)

If you’re buying this, do you really care about sales?

Would. Wear. It. Everywhere. Especially to the DMV.

The Brooks Brothers Semi-Annual sale is set to expire on July 2nd.
