Lands’ End Canvas

Code and pin expire at 11:59pm central today, 11/1/12. Free shipping kicks in at $50.
Or is it now Canvas … Lands’ End. Canvas by Lands’ End? “Take to the Open” Canvas? Maybe it’s a command like, TAKE TO THE OPEN CANVAS! L.E.C. just looks so much better than C.E.L. They launched the new look (& name) awhile back, but it’s been awhile since a nice sized sale has come around, so the new labeling hasn’t come up. Maybe this should be approached the same way that the names of states should always be pronounced. Those who live there decide how it’s said. Example: Oregon is not pronounced Or-eh-GONE. And Wisconsin is pronounced wih-scon-sin, not WES-consin, no matter what Keith Jackson tells you.
Meanwhile, 40% off is a great deal. But it can only be used on one item, and it has to be full price. They do have plenty of new arrivals that have the expected steep full retail tag, but with HIGHEST and pin 3265, they get cut by 40%.

Wool Topcoat – $150.00
($250)

Major potential here. The single breasted top-coat thing is certainly in favor this year, but a double breasted option can have some real power to it. This one is in a friendlier Khaki Herringbone (More Sherlock, less Bond) and if it’s anywhere as good as the regular Lands’ End peacoat in terms of quality, it could be a real steal at $150. Mid thigh length, tabs at the cuffs, but no epaulets (which many will appreciate). 100% wool body.
Made in the USA 608 Slim Fit
or 628 Straight Fit Jean – $58.80
($98)

It’s still honestly hard to believe that Lands’ End Canvas (or, Canvas by Lands’ End) pulled off making a couple different pairs of simple, solid, Made in the USA dark wash denim and they can go on sale for under sixty bucks. Full review here.
5-pocket 628 Straight Fit Moleskin Pants – $42.00
($70)

Has the potential to be the steal of the sale if it’s a good thick moleskin. Moleskin is sort of, in a way, like velvet. Only the length of the fibers is much shorter, the sheen is cut way down (or non existent) and it’s a tough fabric. These look like they lean heavily towards the workwear side, as opposed to the luxury side like the current BR brown moleskin topcoat. Comes in their straight fit, which fits an awful lot like a 501. See the in-person post on the jeans for a fit comparison.
608 Slim Fit 100% wool Herringbone Pants – $78.00
($130)

Even with the discount they’re far from cheap, but the 608 slim fit is a real slim fit. So if you’re on the real thin side and have a hard time finding 100% wool, wintery pants like these, then worth a look. Also nice that they offer them in blue.
Elston 608 Slim Fit Glen plaid Pant – $55.99
($80)

The code doesn’t knock an extra 40% off here since they’re already on sale, but you will get free shipping out of the deal. Might be worth hanging out for an extra 30% off sale items code & pin. Cotton with a fall & winter ready charcoal glen plaid pattern. These are cut from the 608 silhouette, so expect some real trim lines here.
For Her: Women’s Candy Cane Leggings – $30.00
($50)

Does anyone else thing these are ridiculously se…. no? Even if they’re the only thing that… Nevermind.
The 40% off one full price item code HIGHEST and pin 3265 expires 11/1/12.
Think* and yes.
^^^^^
Excellent choices! The last one is a major distraction. Made me forget about the rest….
So as much as I need a new coat, the candy cane leggings…..
Can any of you guys comment on the fit of the wool topcoat? According to the LEC size chart I just barely rate a large by chest measurement (41″) but I’m solidly medium otherwise.
My assumption is that a coat isn’t going to be tailored nearly close enough that an inch across the chest matters, but I’d love other opinions.
I believe those should be called “Camel Toe” leggings….
Leggins are hot in any form!!
“Santa baby” immediately popped into my head from those leggings.
Regardless, those might be a Christmas gift to the lady friend. One of those gifts that keeps on giving.
Pulled the trigger yesterday and ordered the anderson navy blazer. For $150 it seemed like a good deal. Here’s hoping for a good fit.
I had to go with these http://canvas.landsend.com/pp/mens-camp-pants~246065_-1.html
Sheesh, the Canvas line has just gone awry. I’ve been snooping around for things to use this code on and it seems like they are trying to sneak in a lot of “old mannish” pleated pants and baggy sweaters under the brand for the ol’ bait & switch.
With the subtlety of an air raid siren.
The sweaters this year are… interesting. I’m not one to get all hot and bothered over pants (leggings though…) but I really think with the 40% off code, they’ve got some highly tempting pants in their lineup. Pleats are starting to make a bit of a comeback as the super-low-rise thing starts to fade… but it’s not a look many will try.
But yeah, the sweaters this season. No idea what’s going on there.
Is it me or has LEC really changed since they put the Living Social deal for $30 for $60 worth about a year ago
A little camel toe haiku for you all:
Yo-yo in your pants?
Or just happy to see me?
Pick-up line needs work.
The LEC (C,LE, or whatever) topcoat is already backordered in medium. 11/16 projected ship date.
you totally missed these dude http://canvas.landsend.com/pp/mens-union-suit-pajamas~246587_-1.html
Are you guys kidding? I ordered LEC for the first time this summer and fell in love. If you wait for these sales its reasonably affordable, fits well, and looks amaze-balls. And Im order a couple of their sweaters if i werent broke! http://canvas.landsend.com/pp/mens-supima-cardigan~242085_-1.html this is top on my list, as is a blue terry blazer they have. Im in Portland Or and half this stuff would fit in very well, especially with the urban hipster look.
I think there’s a previous post on them
EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A PAIR!
Concerning the leggings, you all can thank me later: http://s7.landsend.com/is/image/LandsEnd/423152_XN12_FF_36M?fmt=jpeg,rgb&qlt=100,1&op_sharpen=0&resMode=sharp3&op_usm=0.5,1,3,0&icc=sRGB%20IEC61966-2.1,relative&iccEmbed=1&rgn=0,0,2000,3000&scl=1&id=uRpuz2
Joe to answer your unspoken question: Yes.
Somewhere in my head is a tasteful joke about candy canes and how much I like licking them and the relationship to…
those jeans are just hideous
I’d really like to see an in-person review of that topcoat…
what
I’m liking the red wool vest, but it is expensive by J.Crew standards.
Those striped leggings look so much like Molly Shannon doing her “camel tow” bit. Sally O’Malley…I like to KICK!
Whats dappered’s opinion of the Elston Blazer?
http://canvas.landsend.com/pp/mens-elston-blazer~242102_-1.html
As a bigger guy — I should be quick to note that “bigger” is not “fat”! — I’m a fan of pleats, as I think flat front pants often result in a top-heavy look, especially if they’re cut slim. Pleats can offer a balance. Not that flat front always makes one look top-heavy; and pleats on too-big pants end up looking bloated and having exactly the opposite effect as desired.
I’m shocked no one mentioned the flannel jeans. saturday/sunday fall warm-butt gear.

What about gloves at LEC? Any suggestion?
When did L.E.C start with the ridiculous prices? I mean $150, $250 for a blazer? I used to buy a lot of their stuff last year, and nothing was priced that crazy?

Hope it works out for you. I tried their blazers on instore. No go for me. But on the average, i cant do S/M/L sized blazers. Its too bad cause i really liked them!
Have any of you gotten the topcoat? I ordered the day it became available and immediately the piece was backordered till today the 16th.
Bright and early this morning I got another email making pushing it back to the 30th. Ugh.
