J. Crew Extra 30% off Sale Items

November 13, 2012 By Joe | Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. Also, we take your privacy rights seriously. Head here to learn more.

Take 30% off J. Crew SALE items w/ code MUSTHAVE

Code doesn’t expire until Sunday November 18th, so be prepared for them to potentially restock their sale section in a few days.  Free shipping kicks in at $175, with $8.95 flat rate for orders under that.

And with that, it’s now safe to say that the recent J. Crew Factory website re-launch has created a chasm between these extra 30% off sale codes, and J. Crew Factory sale items.  This new extra 30% off code MUSTHAVE won’t work on Factory sale items.  Meanwhile, Factory is doing a lesser 20% off with HAULPASS, but you have to spend over $100.  At least that’s not the case at J. Crew.  Let’s get on with it.  And remember… be careful of those non-returnable “Final Sale” items.

UPDATE:  Yep.  J. Crew Factory is doing a 30% off and free shipping no minimum code.  SCOREMORE gets you the deal, and it doesn’t expire until Tuesday 11/10.  Full marks to Nima for being the first one in via the comments on this one.
.

 J. Crew Bayswater Peacoat – $164.50 ($255)
Little early to be marked down this much isn’t it?

Huh.  Well I stand corrected.  Just a week or so ago it seemed unusually good that J. Crew was offering a 25% off discount on their outerwear through a 25% off $150+ sale.  And now they put their peacoat on sale for $235, and the code takes an extra 30% off that.  That’s a bizarrely good price this early into winter.  The stinger is the discount drops it to just under $175, so they then get to dump the $8.95 shipping back on there.  Might be worthwhile to pick up some socks to tip the balance.  Available in charcoal, navy, and black.

Lambswool Crewneck – $38.15 ($64.50)
Not merino, but a more winter friendly lambswool.

Easily one of the highlights of this sale.  Knocked down to $54, and the extra 30% off dumps it under $40.  Lots of sizes, and colors to choose from.  Available in tall too for a few extra dollars.  V-necks available as well.

Washed Linen Sportcoat – $132.99 ($218)
Not quite seersucker, but still not winter friendly.

Damn.  If only the snow wasn’t already flying for plenty of us.  Buying out of season is one way to save a ton of money.  But you have to be patient.  Most of us ain’t anywhere near this patient.  Available in Medium and Large at post time.

Gingham Point Collar Shirt – $54.60 ($88)
Nice sized collar too.

A splurge even with the 30% off, but it’s not a non-iron.  Seems like almost everything has a non-iron finish these days, and not everyone likes that.  2-ply Super 120s cotton and darts at both shoulders.  It should look, feel, and wear like a better than average shirt.  And it better if they’re gonna list it at almost $90.

Suede iPhone 4 Case – $17.50 ($38)
This is for the 4.  Anyone still using the original iPhone?

Heard mixed reviews on how these cases hold up, but for under $20 it might be worth it if you’ve got an apple fan on your holiday shopping list this year.

Lace Front Drivers – $89.60 ($148)
A 3 season shoe that plays well indoors now.

Paging Paul.  Sure, the cold weather isn’t real kind to driving shoes, but they are nice to have on hand for taking the garbage out, walking around your place, and quick trips to the store.

Coalridge Shawl Sweatshirt – $80.49 | Shawl Cardigan – $76.99
Two more hoodie upgrades.

Up there for cotton/blend sweaters, but beastly.  The Shawl Cardigan might be the least wimpy looking cardigan out there (not that all cardigans look wimpy, but c’mon… some do).  Also worth a look: The Marled French Terry cardigan.

Bowery Oxford Cloth Pant – $20.99 ($88)
Good size selection too. Wrong time of year.

Another one of those “great if you’re patient” items.  One of the best spring/summer pants out there.  Made from oxford cloth, terrific fit (if memory serves) and the price at this point is low enough that they really might be worth stashing in your closet for 5 months.  Especially if you’re close to free shipping.

Bowery Slim Oxford Cotton Pant in Black Watch – $82.60 ($128)
Yeah. It’s almost the holidays.

Now going for about how much the J. Crew Factory version goes for when on sale.  The completely opposite color/pattern compared to the oxford cloth pant above.

For Her: Thigh Highs – $9.09 ($18.50) | Merino Scarf – $34.65 ($68)
Two potential gifts. One’s a safe play. The other not.

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.  And there’s the scarf too.

The extra 30% off J. Crew Sale code MUSTHAVE expires on Sunday 11/18.  That’s a ways out, so don’t be shocked if they throw some more inventory into their sale section online later this week.  Meanwhile, for those of you that actually read these italics way down here, Banana Republic, GAP, and Old Navy are doing 30% off through 11/14 with the code GETSTARTED.  Some exclusions like Leather, Cashmere, and New Arrivals do apply.

Of the three colors, is the navy (pea coat) most versatile? Also, the sweater will help me with getting over the free shipping. Well done Joe!! Great coat just in time for the cold winters…. Keep it up

I’m going to be creepy…but only for a sec…ready? Here it goes…MMMMM thigh highs!!!!
Okay, now that I got that out of the way…excellent post.

I’m a little surprised the Billy Reid shoes mentioned before weren’t on this list. Code makes them 36.94+tax shipped, though sizes are dropping out.

Same here. Still looks new after 5 years. Rock solid buy.

  8. Tommy says

    November 13, 2012 at 8:06 AM

What color did you guys go with? I am torn with the selection and noticed now only the gray and black are on sale……not the navy!!!

  9. MagM says

    November 13, 2012 at 8:51 AM

I’d go gray over black. Matches better.

  10. jdw says

    November 13, 2012 at 9:17 AM

Go for the charcoal. It’s a lot more versatile.

  12. Wayne says

Good call. I’m a sucker for the fit ladies rocking the thigh highs.

  13. Philip Coffaro says

Gents, I’m a Floridian, but I’ll be heading to NYC for a week in December. Is the peacoat a worthwhile investment or are peacoats something to be worn only in more formal scenarios?

  14. Joe says

    November 13, 2012 at 10:30 AM

Nice. That’s one of the better one’s I’ve seen in awhile. Drops their Thompson suit separates down under $230.

  15. Matt W says

    November 13, 2012 at 10:43 AM

Of course they J Crew sweaters start at Large in the talls… we skinny orangutan-armed guys have heaps of first world problems!

  16. Avisha NessAiver says

    November 13, 2012 at 10:49 AM

Does the peacoat work well over a suit? It seems a bit more short / fitted than a standard one.

  17. Christopher says

    November 13, 2012 at 11:01 AM

The peacoat is a staple in any guy’s wardrobe. They can be dressed up or down. For formal occasions (suit and tie), I would go with a car coat or nice trench.

  18. Christopher says

    November 13, 2012 at 11:04 AM

I can’t decide between the black or natural…

  19. Erick Johnson says

    November 13, 2012 at 11:07 AM

A girl I’m talking to wore some slightly more sheer ones the other night. When she sat I could just make out the ornate elastic band that came to the edge of her skirt… HNNNNNNG

  20. Nate says

    November 13, 2012 at 11:13 AM

Great find. Does anyone have one and know if the Peacoat runs big? I’m in that frustrating place between small and medium… so can anyone advise? I usually wear a 38 in suits. thanks!

  21. Scott Hendrickson says

    November 13, 2012 at 11:33 AM

I can wait, I picked up those Oxford Cloth pants. How could I pass at that price?

  22. Nathan says

    November 13, 2012 at 11:58 AM

Glad Joe didn’t try on the thigh highs for us. LOL

  23. Nima Beheshti says

    November 13, 2012 at 12:01 PM

Pants wont ship until jan 18th for the charcoal though. I emailed customer service and they said I can hold off returning the jacket until the pants arrive, in case it doesn’t fit (damn you no 38S)

  24. Nathan says

    November 13, 2012 at 1:00 PM

I’d go with the charcoal if they give the option, it looks great in person and is super versatile

  25. Nathan says

    November 13, 2012 at 1:02 PM

6’2″ 190lbs, I wear a 42L and the peacoat in Medium Long fits my shoulders perfectly. Hope that helps.

  26. Alex says

    November 13, 2012 at 1:19 PM

Medium fit perfectly for me. 6’0 175lbs.

  27. Andrew says

    November 13, 2012 at 1:35 PM

I picked up a small last year, and it fits me quite well. For reference, I’m 5’9″ (give or take) and about 155 lbs. I typically wear a 38 jacket from J. Crew or Banana Republic.

  28. Kalo says

    November 13, 2012 at 1:44 PM

How does the J Crew peacoat compare to the J Crew Factory classic peacoat in quality? With the promotion code the latter is going for $124.6, and it comes in navy

  29. Nate says

    November 13, 2012 at 2:05 PM

thanks all! I think the small will be good for me. I’m similar height/weight-wise to Andrew.

  32. Forrest says

  34. Tommy says

    November 13, 2012 at 5:29 PM

Great, now BR has a sale and there Navy Peacoat is pretty sweet! So Joe, which do you suggest. Cheaper out on a Peacoat last year so I don’t want to make the same mistake. Which color and brand, bud??

  35. Jordan Navarrette says

Picked up the pale grey oxford cloth pants, v-neck lambswool sweater in indigo, slim pique polo in navy, and navy canvas sneakers. I’m excited.

I personally like charcoal better than grey, but BR only has navy and no other color, right?

  39. Tommy says

    BR is navy only.

  40. onyx says

Does the peacoat hug the body when it’s buttoned up? Or is there room to spare? I would prefer a snug, trim fit, as i don’t want the peacoat to look boxy around me when i wear it.

In others’ experiences and my own, you probably want to size down. See this thread for more information: http://threads.dappered.com/showthread.php/6818-J-Crew-Bayswater-vs-Schott-Slim-Fit-Peacoat?p=90261&viewfull=1#post90261

I personally think Navy is the most versatile because it goes well with both blacks and browns, as well as everything else.

I have the JC peacoat and I would highly recommend it over the BR. I just saw the BR in person and it seriously looked similar in quality to the Target Merona.

If you go with JC, you probably want to size down. See this thread for more information: http://threads.dappered.com/showthread.php/6818-J-Crew-Bayswater-vs-Schott-Slim-Fit-Peacoat?p=90261&viewfull=1#post90261
