Target + Neiman-Marcus Holiday Collection
Looks like the collection of 50 gifts goes on sale December 1st.
Who put a quarter in Target? The Bullseye has just released a preview of their holiday gifts collaboration with Neiman Marcus and a host of big name designers. That’s an interesting lunch table that Target now has itself a seat at. At this point does Walmart just spend the noon hour calling the time, picking scabs and eating boogers?
The project was announced back in July, and names like Marc Jacobs, Band of Outsiders, Rag & Bone and Jason Wu have all created a couple of gifts that will be stocked in store and online starting in December. Thom Browne, he of the shrunken suit, has even contributed.
.
These are two of the items that might catch some of your eyeballs. The blazer from Thom Browne is “made from pure wool”, has that obvious white piping, three brass buttons and red/white/blue detailing. Shades of the US Olympic team as well as the Suitsupply outfitted team from the Netherlands. It’s also a safe bet that this thing is going to be short if not chopped in the tail. Its Thom Browne after all.
The safer play seems to be the Rag & Bone Wool/Cotton blend cardigan with that exaggerated waffle knit.
But neither are cheap. And none of the 48 gifts will be available until December 1st. Interesting that they’re waiting that “late” to launch this holiday collaboration.
So would you even give the blazer a shot? What about the sweater for $70? Or will you be sticking to Target staples like Merona? Leave it all in the comments below.
When attending the regatta at Henley
No to the jacket, the sweater is a definite yes.
I have a Vivien Westwood blazer that looks similar to this Thom Browne Blazer, so it’s a yes look
No to blazer…maybe to the sweater.
First thing I thought when I saw Thom Browne Blazer is “that would look nice on a girl.”
Exactly, if your school colors are white and blue (hmm… I can think of a few places that that would apply http://www.yale.edu/rowing/media/Henley_4_jackets_big.JPG)
Other than that, no way on the blazer.
The blazer reminds me of one I purchased from H&M last year. The white striping on the H&M is much thinner, though, and I don’t believe the side flaps were striped. Nice jacket, though.
Target shouldn’t have prices this high. Having said that, I will probably be purchasing the sweater. It’s the perfect amount of chunky.
Yep, the even made one for the ladies.
I think the required matching yacht puts that blazer a little over budget for most of us.
i actualy like the blazer but afraid it will probably be cut to slim to fit me correctly
That blazer has a little too much pop to look good on 95% of guys outside of a photo shoot. Could you imagine someone standing around sipping a drink with that on? Ridiculous.
I’d wear the blazer if I had an Original Penguin lapel pin to tack on.
I really like that sweater….but I wouldn’t be caught dead in that blazer.
What a cute polygamy.
Maybe if I went by the moniker No. 6 and were trying to escape from The Village. “Be seeing you…”
No to blazer. Spot on Johnston & Furby. Maybe a girl, but a guy would have trouble with that one. Sweater, maybe? The mesh might make you look like an extra in the “Excaliber”.
To quote Scott Donlan from “Best in Show”: “looks like a cocktail waitress on an oil rig.”
Does the blazer come with a Yacht?
The blazer would work great if you’re in to the prep look. White OCBD, repp tie, chinos and penny loafers and you’ll be rockin it. I’m for it.
I will never in my life walk into a Target expecting to pay $149 on a single item of clothing. Can we really expect the quality to warrant that price, or is this a classic case of paying for the name on the tag?
My first thought was “where’s my beanie?”
No to both. If I follow Dappered’s tag line, “Fashion is temporary and expensive. Style is timeless and affordable,” I would categorize both of these in the temporary and expensive fashion corner. 🙂
I could see wearing the blazer on new year’s eve party. The sweater kinda looks like chainmail.
I am a gigging musician who likes to dress up for the stage, so I might wear the blazer on stage since you can get away with more in that setting…but at the same time the chances of someone recognizing that it’s from Target would ruin the effect.
Basically the more copies exist of something that edgy, the less stylish it becomes. Exclusivity sometimes matters whether we as sensibly stylish men like it or not.
Wow, this is something I would never expect. Target has stepped up their game with calaborations. However, I would not wear the blazer, maybe the cardigan.
Jackets with a lower button stance look better on me and I’d wear the blazer as a 3-2 roll, if only it didn’t have that red, white and blue detailing.
A more structured version of this?

Ryan Gosling can pull it off in Cannes…
I like that jacket and would totally wear it…if I was 20 years younger. Now, it would just be sad.
What could you even wear that jacket with? I love “different” clothes but I have no idea how I could incorporate it if I did want to.
well thats not fair a hot girl can make anything look good
or a 60’s game show host
Gangnam Style!
Maybe if I was a Korean pop star. . .
I’d love to wear that blazer with a white T or oxford, beep dark blue jeans and my favorite Emerica Navy and White lace up sneakers. That is so cool!
I like the sweater but not for $70… Blazer maybe, but again, would definitely need to drop down.
The sweater is quite nice, but not sure it’s $70 nice. And the blazer…I’d mutiny against the yacht captain that tried to wear that seriously.
Did they rip the pony from this summer’s US Olympic blazers? That said, Hell No!
I wouldn’t wear the blazer. Though I do like the sweater. I’m curious to see what comes from Band of Outsiders also.
The cardigan is decent, I’d wear that. And 70 dollars for a fairly chunky looking shawl collar cardigan is perfectly reasonably, as long as it’s fairly decent quality. Anything you’ll find cheaper is likely to be a bit of a rag.
Definite yes to the cardigan, which I will definitely think about buying. I wouldn’t pay that much for the blazer, but if I found it on sale I would definitely be wearing it.
Jackie O called, Camelot is short one blazer…
The one on the left looks awfully familiar…

Just switch out the notch lapels for a shawl and BOOM. Instant Psy halloween costume.
Thom Browne at Target…that’s wild.
As soon as I saw that blazer, I instantly wished I was this man. It seems to work for him.

Ah, I see Mike already beat me to it below.
It’s a tennis blazer. So unless you’re playing doubles with Stan Smith, it might be a bit on the anachronistic side.
I feel pretty confident saying that Ryan Gosling could pull off anything, anywhere.
I really like it, sure its not really a classic look, but worn casually with the right attitude, I think it could be pulled off rather nicely. The trick would be to pair it with other items so as to not come across as trying to be the captain of the Titanic… in which case, abandon ship on this item.
You beat me to it. I thought the EXACT same thing as soon as I saw this. In fact, if the jacket gets marked down enough I might pick it up to use as a future No. 6 costume.
The Hives pulled it off. I think I could, too.
That’s not a blazer,that’s a pajama top…I should know,I have one…
Do an image search for The Love Boat and you’ll see this blazer. Other than “NO!”, that’s all I’m going to say.
Thurston and Lovey Howell called from Gillgan’s island – they want their clothes back
As soon as I saw it I picked my halloween costume.
Mithril!
The blazer is definitely way cropped – look at the sleeves, they’re longer than the body. I’m not sure anyone could pull that off on the street. Might work on a rock/pop star on stage (or video), but there’s a lot of stuff that works in that context but not in real life. The sweater has potential.
LOL – Awesome, guys. I wonder how many times you’ll have to explain what you *are* for Halloween. You could carry one of those exercise/balance inflatable balls around with you, as a Rover chasing you. Have fun as good ol’ “I am not a number…”
I agree. And for holiday clubbing.
Not for me but: http://guerreisms.com/post/30636779970/toni-rossi-of-halston-naples-italy
Bunch of slobs, a regatta blazer was in the teens-30s and if you have any taste is still an appropriate summer jacket. But you guys are most likely the types that only wear black, navy or grey or take out the boxy suit suit for weddings and funerals.
