Bespoke Post October 2012: “Swagger” – $45.00
For $45 per box, Bespoke Post will deliver to your door a “box of awesome” once a month. Inside you’ll find hand selected items curated for a guy like you. You can skip any box you want or cancel at any time. Click here for more.
Pardon the following sidetracked observation, but before we get into the box of socks, this might be worth pointing out:
Their meaning certainly isn’t similar, but the word “swagger” has become a little like the term “douche bag.” “Swagger” has almost reached a point of over-use in the American lexicon similar to that of yee old Delta-Bravo. And also like douche bag, swagger is a perfect descriptor. You know exactly what you’re getting. But we’ve heard it so much that it’s a little long in the vernacular tooth.
Meanwhile, back to the box. These socks will do nicely. Your $45 gets you seven pairs from etiquette clothiers which averages out to $6.43 per pair. That’s quite the discount considering most of these go for the high teens to low twenties per pair.
Nice of Bespoke Post to include the Gold Bond Powder extra.
The box is well assembled by the guys at Bespoke Post. They didn’t pick all dress socks, but instead throw a variety your way. The dressed up pairs are the deep red cranberry Hef set, the blue argyle Bentley, and the navy Gekko (we could all use more navy socks). The loud black and grey striped Jailbreak pair will be at home with more casual clothes, but you could get risky and wear em’ dressed up too. Each of these Italian made dress socks are mainly cotton with some nylon and elastane to finish the blend off. The fabric is slim like a dress sock should be, but they feel strong. They’re nothing like those paper-thin/translucent cheap-o pairs out there.
The boot socks are made from cotton, so if you’re headed out on a hike, know that they won’t do the same job that wool does. But they are awfully comfortable and good looking. You also get a couple pairs of ankle socks, including a black and white pinstriped pair. These more casual socks are made in Turkey.
The box is finished off with a couple of discount cards good at the custom clothing outfit Alton Lane. Your cards are a $25 off card that can be used on anything, and a $50 gift card good towards any of their suits and sportcoats. The ties run $75, but they are hand-made in New York City from Italian fabrics. If you’re a neck-tie honk and you want to try something new, that $25 off is a good start.
And of course, you could always just enjoy the socks.

UPDATE: Congrats to Matt A. who won this month’s Box of Awesome from Bespoke Post!
I opted out of this one. “One size fits all” socks are a pet peeve of mine. It’s gonna take more than a bit of stretch and a prayer to make the same sock fit my size 8 foot and some other dude’s size 13. $6.43 per pair for an ill-fitting sock is still an ill-fitting sock.
For once being average is great. I’m a 10.5 and opted in on my personal account for this one. Looking forward to getting my set so I can actually wear these things (so no, I did not put these on to test them out only to give them away later on…)
I am a size 13 and just about every sock in the world is designed to go up to size 12. For me, buying a sock is like buying a goldfish. It could last forever or it could die tomorrow.
love the socks! but the sneaky value is the alton lane gift cards. I love their hour scheduled fittings
I opted out of this one as well. Awesome socks, but the roughly 847 pairs I already have are taking up too much space as is. But for free? Well…
I just want the alchemy box. That’s all I really want. Socks are fine, and so are the things in last month’s box, but every time I go to their site and see the picture from the alchemy box…
Was about to go load up on socks from BR. Maybe I’ll wait and see if I win these.
Agree totally. I always have a difficult time finding sized socks, but I cannot wear socks one size socks on my 8.5 foot without the heal being half-way up my leg.
Wouldn’t recommend their dress socks, which have little stretch and wear quickly. Their casual socks are comfortable enough but also wear quickly.
That said, I still have quite a few of them. When they go on sale, they’re hard to resist.
I love this box. The socks rule.
Alchemy is a bunch of stuff I already have. I’d probably opt out of it if they brought it back, and I would have opted out of it if I’d been a subscriber when it came out.
