Sales that deserve some attention when heading into the weekend. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up the Friday Handful. Expect these things when necessary. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.
.
The Pick: Hugo Boss Mitarro Single Monk – $167.30 ($295)
$300 retail seems pretty steep for a pair of BOSS shoes. But this hits that nice mid $100s price range. Great looking buckle and toe shape too. Couple of things worth noticing in the description. It says “square toe”, but the overhead shot sure looks rounded off decently. It also says “1 inch flat heel with lugged rubber base for traction”. Lugged? Really? Can’t really see that in the pics. So, it’s risky. Purchases over $75 ship free with LCOCT75. 30% off sale expires Tuesday morning.
The Picks: Chino Grigios & Grey Dogs – $66 a piece ($132 total, reg. $176)
Ready to jump through some hoops? Here we go. Head to the Bonobos Facebook page. Click the “claim your offer” thinger. There’ll be instructions on how to get your code emailed to you. It’s good for 25% off orders over $175, which seems tailor made for buying two pairs of their $88 washed chinos. Yes that’s expensive. But yes, Bonobos has a strong following. Works out to $66 a pop if you stick to their flagship pants. Of course, it can be used on other things too.
The Pick: Mercanti Fiorentini Double Monk Strap – $124.95 ($149.95)
Meanwhile, in other monk strap news (I know, some of you hate em’)… The DSW Italian-made brand Mercanti Fiorentini double-monk is a favorite around these parts. Yes they’ll crease a bit, but they do have character to spare and have held up pretty well for most. You do have to sign up for their email list before you can use the code FASHION (expires 10/15) but they don’t bombard your inbox by any stretch. At that point you can also use SHIPR and they’ll ship free as well. Meanwhile, looks like they put that same silhouette on an oxford boot. Thoughts on that one? Too slim? What about that zipper?
.
The Picks: Maybe wait for an extra 30% off sale?
After much ramp up, the new J. Crew Factory website launched yesterday. And… the current 30% off J. Crew Sale items code won’t apply to Factory items. Well hell. Is this going to be a trend? Not quite sure yet, but the changes to the J. Crew factory site seem to be mainly cosmetic. Signing up for their email list will net you free shipping through the rest of October. Starting to wonder if the next extra 30% off sale items code will be applicable to Factory items… or not. Eesh. Meanwhile, the sale section at JCrew.com has been decimated, but you get an extra 30% off sale items there with MUSTHAVE.
The Pick: Ray Ban Caravan Sunglasses in Silver – $87.50??? ($125)
Eddie Bauer doesn’t usually exclude 3rd party merchandise during site wide sales (and one starts on Saturday), and the Ray-Ban Caravans have gotten cuts due to codes in the past. But 30% off the Caravans puts them under $90, and that’s a very good price.
Also worth a note: Macy’s is doing a Men’s Wardrobe sale with 4-day specials, and the code OUTFIT should take 15 – 20% off most items that aren’t part of the 4-day specials group. French Connection has 25% off their site with the code FCFALL. Rue La La is doing a TUMI sale and this moneyclip looks awfully good for $20.
