Friday Handful – 8/17/12

.
Sales that deserve some attention when heading into the weekend.  Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look.  Those are what make up the Friday Handful.  Expect these things when necessary.  Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below.  Included are a few picks worth pointing out.
.

ratio/clothing:  Daily Hookup Deal – $60 gets you $98 at ratio
Each of these are going for $60 with the deal.

The Picks: Windowpane – $60 ($98) | Ogden Plaid – $60 ($98) | Classic Pinpoint – $60 ($89)

This was an eye bugger for most of us when we first saw it.  Ratio has never done a deal like this before, and this is a big discount.  Not all of their shirts are $98 (or under) but there’s more than a few, including the blue windowpane pinpoint that is worth far more than $60.  These shirts are made in the USA, fit amazingly well, and the quality will make your department store shirts weep gently with shame at the back of your closet.  Right, so, big fans around here.  Know that the pinpoint usually runs $89, so you won’t use up your entire credit when purchasing.  Also know that you have to use these pretty quick.  Expiration is 9/30/12.  Each purchase comes with a $15 gift card which can be applied towards your next purchase, if you make another one.  Looks like the deal is available through the 25th.

J. Crew:  Free Shipping w/ FREESHIP | LEC:  Free shipping & Returns w/ BRONZE & 1818
Not big on color are you fella?

The Picks: J. Crew Suede iPhone Case – $25 ($38) | LEC Linen Cotton Hat – $9.97 ($45)

Well, it’s something.  A rarity on both counts.  Free shipping from J. Crew, no minimum, and it works on Factory too.  No extra 30% off sale code though.  For a limited time Lands’ End Canvas is offering free shipping AND free returns.  That’s not the norm.  Not a bad time to look at the little stuff you never considered because shipping would double or triple the cost.  Hat is a linen cotton blend and can be found on the big brother Lands’ End Site under the “canvas clearance” section.  Code is working on it even though it’s a clearance item that ends in $.97.  J. Crew code expires 8/19, LEC expires 8/29.
.
UPDATE:  Code FLOAT and pin 1721 will get you $20 off orders of $75 or more and Lands’ End plus the free shipping, but it doesn’t work on Lands’ End Canvas.  Damn.  Still holding out for a deal on that rugby.
UPDATE II: Code AUGUST and 8844 is good for 25% off and free shipping on Lands’ End AND L.E.C.  That drops the rugby to $60.  Code expires Monday 8/20.

Overstock: Stuhrling Original Tuskegee Flier Auto – $53.09 $78.99 (usually $95 – $110)
She’s a cheap date this one.

The Pick: Well, the Sturhling obviously

If you’ve had your fill of Quartz and are Auto curious, this Stuhrling is hard to turn down at just twenty more than a Timex Weekender.  Basic face that got downright minimalist compared to the previous version (which are back in stock at Overstock for about $95).  It’s a Chinese movement with a 36 hr power reserve.  44mm in diameter, so… big. Haven’t had any troubles with mine.  Credit to @cARRRtographer for the tip via twitter, as well as for having a great twitter handle.
UPDATE:  Price went up by $25 overnight.  Drat.

Banana Republic:  “Special Savings” plus extra 20% off w/ BRSAVE
Remember that the sweater’s V dips real low.

The Picks:  Open Tartan Slim Shirt – $47.60 ($79.50) | Silk/Cotton/Cashmere V – $39.60 (69.50)

20% off isn’t the best deal when it comes to BR, but, it does stack on top of the “special deals” section they’re running right now.  The open tartan would look good under a grey suit with a black knit tie. Black, grey, and “ocean blue” have all been marked down when it comes to the sweaters, which are basic colors you can work in just about anywhere.  (Meanwhile, if you drop in in-store, it seems like some brick & mortars are putting 40% off one item on Wednesdays coupon sheets in your bag.  Believe they start in Sept.)

Macy’s: One Day Sale 8/17 – 8/18
When prices get close to bottoming out.

The Picks: London Blue Topaz Accent Ring – $349.00 ($1000)

Full honesty:  Online is pretty mneh.  But that was expected, being that we’re in the dog days of summer and the Macy’s Men’s Private Sale was actually pretty friggin’ good.  But, know that if you’ve had your eye on something at Macy’s in store, this would be the time to re-check it out.  The 14k white gold London  Blue Topaz ring is a nice statement piece splurge for her, and if you’re a card holder with those 20% off coupon cards, your single use code should work.  Mrs. Dappered approved.  Good sized center stone but not obnoxiously huge.
