The Eliminator – Five from Huckberry
Here’s how this works: Each day we’ll eliminate an item until only one remains. Vote for the item you’d LEAST like to own at the bottom of the page. The item with the most votes gets ejected at the end of the day. The item that remains at the end of this battle royal will be won by one of you with an enter to win post firing off on Friday.
About Huckberry: It’s not easy to stand out in the world of flash sale websites, but Huckberry does it. With an emphasis on the outdoors and active lifestyle gear, they nail the upscale-rugged thing. Also, their sales are often littered with made in the USA goods. All of these items will have been available through Huckberry at some point.

Taylor Stitch Black Gingham English Dress Shirt – $125
Made in San Francisco by a company that also makes custom shirts (those run $150 – $300+). This one is an off the rack model, but with a tailored fit, high armhole, and single needle construction with double stitched buttons and button holes, it’s one of those shirts that’ll blow away the rest of your collection. Black and white gingham with a spread collar. No pleats since the guys at Taylor Stitch want to make it as easy as possible for you to iron.
ELIMINATED – “Handsome Dan” Leather Head Football – $120.00
If an old dog-chewed NERF turbo is at one end of the spectrum, then this football sits on the complete opposite end. Functional art. Hand-made in the USA from amazing looking, rich leather from Prime Tannery in Maine. Made it into the Art of Manliness Father’s Day Huckberry shop.
ELIMINATED – Braun Analog Date Black – $210
Sharp, clean, and a legendary no nonsense design. Quartz movement, 150′ water resistance, and scratch resistant mineral glass. Braun watches and clocks were out of production for years, but they’ve started production once again. Was being offered on Huckberry pre-father’s day with different levels of thank-you credits with purchase. Luckily for all of us, they set one aside for someone to potentially win.
ELIMINATED – BCX Pathfinder Axe in Black & Orange “Titan” color scheme – $210.00
Lightweight and versatile, it’s perfect for splitting firewood into kindling, clearing your way, or, uh, just about anything else you could use an easy to wield axe for. All while looking incredible. Drop forged high carbon, fine grain 1.75 lb steel head, hand tempered and ground in Maine. 26″ hickory handle. Comes with a leather head cover.
Critical Cycles Cream/Brown/Black Fixed Gear – $219.00
A brand new bike brand that launches next month, and they promise to deliver single speed bikes “with a component set that is ideal for riding around town”. Equipped with a flip-flop hub so you can ride it as fixed-gear, or, switch cogs and now your bike has a freewheel like a standard single speed. Nifty. Protek cranks, Sunrun freewheel, KMC chain, Wanda Tires, Well-Go pedals, and Promax brakes. $219 total cost with free shipping in the continental US. More proof here that black and brown (or cream) really can go together.
Pick the item that you’d LEAST like to win and vote below to have it eliminated. One item gets cut every day. The item that’s left at the end of the week will be up for grabs and you’ll be able to enter to win on Friday. Make your case for what needs to go and/or what should stay in the comments. Voting closes at 11:59pm ET.

I sense a strong force within this gingham shirt. So strong that it will probably win this! There’s no other explanation for it surviving this long, until the last stage. I guess Dappered.com is foremost a clothes trend site, so non-clothe items never had a chance against this good old gingham shirt that you could literally get from any men’s clothes store you walk into, any clothes website you go to these days. It’s not even a custom shirt, but an off-the-rack model sold by a company that sells custom shirts (it says so right below the picture). I can’t believe you guys~~! hahaha.
(BTW, it seems like my original post didn’t post and hopefully I won’t be double-posting with this one)
Also I’d like to point out that the bike is supposedly equipped with a flip-flop hub, so that you CAN CHANGE between a single-speed setting and a fixed-gear, whichever one chooses . it’s written RIGHT BELOW the bike picture thingy. Too many people don’t seem to read the description. OR mistakenly thinking that single-speed and fixed-gear are the same: they are not. You can coast anywhere, especially downhill, without your legs having to go super fast with a single-speed. Unless you live in mountains (get a mountain bike, not a commuter road bike if that’s the case) or places with many high slope hills (i.e. SF), you really don’t need 12, 16 gears.
I’m going to buy two of those bikes. I like them
if the gingham shirt was a different colour, it would be my winner. unfortunately im not a fan of black
It’s Critical that the bike wins…
I really wanted the watch to win. It was the only iconic item on here. As much as I want to promote bike riding (and fixed/single speed riding in particular), I already have a steamroller so I don’t need another fixed gear/single speed bike. And as others have pointed out, its hard to trust a bike company that makes a fixed gear, puts only one break on it and chooses the rear
WE WANT THE BIKE! No one wears black anymore anyway!
I like both the shirt and the bike and would be happy to win either. Most likely I’d get more utility out of the shirt as I live a bit far from work to bike.
I love the bike(s)… would never wear that shirt…. not that it’s bad… it just doesn’t fit my style.
you’re joking, right? that watch was hot garbage…. should have never been made
The bike looks amazing, no doubt, but I personally wouldn’t be able to use it where I live, so I voted it out. Sorry guys!
You may not like it but the watch is an iconic piece of design (that you can find in museums) from an iconic company that inspired much of today’s technology design (e.g. apple). Not saying I would pay $200 for it but I would happily wear it if i won it.
Dear god, please don’t let the shirt win. There are enough nice shirts out there. A little variety, I’m begging.
Seriously, why is the shirt still here? Here’s hoping the bike wins.
I want that Bike!
As an avid cyclist, I’m amazed the bike has lasted this long, especially when you have to give your email to even see product specs or what kind of components your getting. Bikes are similar to suits; buying them online without a fitting and some serious information offers mixed results.
*you’re getting
I just will never be able to justify spending $125 on a shirt, but $219 for a bike is amazing.
The bike is something I prob wouldn’t buy on my own but if I won it I’d ride it till it couldn’t take it anymore. Gone with the shirt!
if the shirt wins, can we ban everyone who badmouthed it from entering to win it?
I would happily wear/use either of these.
Although nice, I voted for the shirt. I have far too much gingham in my closet and wearing it now. Much rather see the bike win.
I was originally wanting the shirt, and I still think the shirt is awesome. However, I switched my vote to vote out the shirt because my daughter is into cycling lately and I don’t have a bike to ride with her. * queue violins *
I’m voting for the bike. Sure, the shirt is boring looking, but it’s from a high-quality designer and is well crafted in the USA. A new bike that costs $220 is a mistake. This is not a “good deal,” this is a piece of broken garbage waiting to happen. A comparable Schwinn costs twice as much, and even that brand is considered low-quality since its fall from grace in the early 90s. For $220, you could get a nice used bike on craigslist that would easily outlast this beige hunk of fad.
I voted for the shirt. The bike would just collect dust in my garage while the shirt would get lots of use. I could always sell the bike I guess, but I don’t think anyone around here would want to buy it.
Oops, by “voted for the shirt” I meant voted for the bike to be eliminated. Crazy logic.
Oops, I mean voted for the bike to be eliminated. I vote for the shirt to win. Crazy logic.
The bike is something unique, and while i like the spread collar on the gingham shirt, its got to go
Ditch the shirt.
Win bike.
Sell bike for around $200.
Buy whatever the f&#@ your heart desires.
Disappointing to see that readers of this blog see more value in a shirt and a $200 bike than any of three timeless heirloom quality items.
But it’s free…
What a Cinderella story…the bike emerges as the winner on the fashion website. Ultimately the shirt is just not that special, and likely already exists within the wardrobes of many on this site (or something similar). The watch was underwhelming, the axe and football just silly.
I want that SHIRT!!1
The critical bike looks very well made. Love the color too. A classy reason to ditch my car more often! Shirt is gone.
I’ve never really understood the appeal of fixed gear/single speed bikes, as they seem wildly impractical. Even when I’m biking on a completely flat road I tend to shift depending on my speed. It’s a good looking bike, I suppose, but if doesn’t serve it’s primary purpose well, the looks hardly matter, do they?
when your on a single speed/fixed it is more efficient because the chain does not have to go through a derailleur. It actually works pretty well, you should try it before you knock it. The other really big advantage is a large reduction in maintenance costs.
And there goes the shirt. For the same price I can get a custom from Ratio.
the bike might not be the greatest of all time, but for what I’d need, it would work great. Plus I wouldn’t be devastated if it gets stolen.
And $219 for car is even more amazing. But you’ve gotta wonder what kind of car you’d get for $219. And you’ve gotta wonder what kind of bike you can get for that.
and then there’s the disadvantage of turning into a sweaty wreck every time you come across a hill because you can’t gear down for it, and having to brake going downhill because your legs can’t spin as fast as the pedals. Maybe if it was a singlespeed, but a fixie? Terribly impractical for anything other than a track race
nevermind, just saw it’s actually a SS labled as a fixie for better marketability.
I’m in the market for a bike, but I don’t know the first thing about what to look for. I don’t want/need a mountain bike and more or less just like something to get around on. Aside from ergonomics, what should I be looking for or weary of? It’d be nice if whatever I get could be used in a sprint triathlon so long as it doesn’t look out of place riding around town. Thanks
Love the bike. Need a run-around-town bike and this looks prefect. We’re moving into a new house close to downtown and I dont want to have to drive everywhere. But I also don’t need to spend a fortune, so this is right in my wheelhouse.
Good luck finding someone willing to buy it for $200…
I’m voting for the bike because I want to see if the picture of this shirt looks any different in black and white
If the shirt was going to make you look like a wannabe teenage hipster poseur, then I would vote against it…
Stick to clothing, people!
Much rather have that shirt! Hahah
Shirt or bike, hmmm. Since I have a closet full of shirts and only one bike I say goodbye to the shirt. That way I can have a friend cruise through the city with me this summer!
I’ll take the bike… but i have a feeling this one is going to be the closest of them all…
Personally I think a ‘getting around’ bike should have (really) relaxed geometry, which is generally not conducive to competition. Find, say, an older Trek road bike and you should be fine to tootle around without looking all ‘Tri-guy’ while still being able to compete on it.
Make friends with someone who knows about bikes.
I would be much more excited to win a free bike than a free shirt.
Shirt!
Since the bike looks pretty good even if it isn’t ideal for function, I want it so I can hang it up like art.
C’mon. That bike doesn’t even have a motor…
Totally voting for the bike, let’s get that thing out of there!
The shirt doesn’t really excite me that much, so it should go. I would definitely dig that bike to cruise around doing some errands.
Both choices seem great.
If the bike wins, this site needs to change its name.
You nailed it.
it belongs in a museum… they have better looking ones on their site though.
The shirt looks good, but it’s also nothing special. I think a generous ratio of us might already own one. That bike however, looks spiffy.
Noooooooooooooo
Gingham
As mentioned, I love the bike. The fact that I cant enter the web site is very frustrating. I have entered 2 emails and sent 2 invites and can’t get in. Is the home page just an image waiting for the site to launch?
