Brooks Brothers 30% off Select Accessories, Shoes, & Ties

You think Brooks Brothers does a bit of business around Father’s Day?  They’ve been running daily special markdowns all week on different categories of goods.  Today’s is extra appealing because, among other reasons, some very familiar looking Made-in-the-USA shoes get the price cut.  He’s a quick rundown of what’s on sale today:

Excellent… just in case you wanted to snag, um, a Pheasant Walking stick for just north of a hundred, or an Alligator Eyeglass case for seven-bills.  And yes, when team Dappered sells out to ACME internet website conglomerate, you can bet your chino covered butt those will be the first two things purchased with the windfall.  And then they will be plated in gold.  Classy.  Off we go.  Let’s get a little closer to turning Alligator into AuigatorYoink.
.

Classic Bucks – $138.60 ($198)
Goodyear welt construction.

Awfully hard not to love grey suede shoes.  Navy too.  Other non standard colors available:  Light blue, green (yes really), and red.  Also the usual white and earth tones can be found here.  Extremely well reviewed and should last plenty long thanks to the Goodyear welt.  Made in Mexico.

Contrast Stitch Wingtip – $208.60 ($298)
The McContrast-Stitch-WingTavish

A pair of Allen Edmonds McTavish wingtips will run you $298.  Golly gee these look awfully similar.  Made in the USA, Goodyear welt of course, etc…  The light brown cap-toe cousin is also available.

Medallion Perforated Cap Toe – $243.60 ($348)
Also made in the USA.

These must be awfully comfortable to strand, I mean… stand in.  Three colors are available including the very popular walnut.  Goodyear welted, made in the USA, all that good stuff.

Superga Canvas Sneakers – $45.50($65)
As clean as sneakers get.

Americans have converse, Italians have Superga.  Not made in Italy though (like Cons are made in the US?).  Canvas upper, metal eyelets, and a rubber sole.  White, black, and blue available.

Calfskin Monk Strap Desert Boot – $138.60 ($198)
Only if it were fall.

Hot flippin’ mother hell pants.  Too bad it ain’t boot season.  Seen these before, and on super clearance at the end of the last run they dipped to $120, but $138 seems fair.  Unique for sure.

American Bison or Suede Driving Mocs – $89.60 ($128)
Nice penny strap.

Wonder if our continent trotting, out of a van living, Old Crow drinking Paul needs a new pair of drivers?  Under ninety is awfully tempting for either of these, especially the bison.  Sizes are all over the place on the bison.  Four color options for each including a blue on the bison, green on the suede, and red for each.

Slim Laptop Briefcase – $208.60 ($298)
Made in the USA

Two hundred dollars might seem a little steep for a ballistic nylon briefcase, but this one is a-pretty-close-to-perfect combination of class and functionality.  Made in the USA too.

Canvas and leather Travel Bag – $243.60 ($348)
Unfortunatly, not made in the USA.

This on the other hand, is going to be too frou-frou for some, but for others, it harkens back to the days when travel = luxury.  Even if you’re traveling back in coach, you don’t have to feel like you’re stuck on a greyhound with wings.  That can start with what you’re putting your stuff in.  Over 2700 cubic inches of space.

Cotton Madras Belt – $33.60 ($48)
Probably not going to be worn to the company xmas party.

Well?  Would you?

Pebble Card Case – $40.60 | Golden Fleece Card Case – $68.60 ($98)
Holsters for your plastic.

Not the cheapest things in the world, even with the discount, but they’re lookers.  Sure the golden fleece embossed case might give the anti-logo crowd fits of rage, but it’s pretty slick.

Sterling Silver Knot Cufflinks – $66.50 ($95)
Timeless.

Won’t ever go out of style.  A good way to formal up your look without going overboard with flash.  Have to love this review: “For the price ($95) they are a wonderful pair of cuff links in a nice silver.  However if you look closely the detailing isn’t perfect, don’t buy these if you want them as your nicest pair, a good mid-range.”  Mid-range cufflinks for $95 when at full retail… I’m thinking this fellow has cufflinks that cost more than some of our suits.

The Splurge:  Sterling Plated Snapper Cufflinks – $157.50 ($225)
Top of the line.

There are a lot of awful looking silver cufflinks out there.  These make up for the ever growing pile of silver-tone mishaps.  The problem, and it’s a big one, is that they’re expensive as all hell.  Not that long ago, full retail on these was $165.  But the price has been climbing with the steady gait of a pickaxe wielding yodeler who’s been doomed by a bargain blender.  A big splurge, even at 30% off.

Plaid Twill Slim Tie – $34.65 ($49.50)
The cheapest of the bunch, but not bad...

Brooks Brothers ties are not cheap.  Most run $79.50, and with the discount that lands them at $55.65 for today.  That’s quite a bit for a tie, but this cotton 2 5/8″ option is much less, yet made in the USA.  Casual, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

The 30% off most shoes, ties, and select accessories expires today, 6/14/12.
