Would you carry it? Coach’s Heritage Slim Card Case

May 2, 2012 By Joe | Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. Also, we take your privacy rights seriously. Head here to learn more.

Coach Heritage Stripe Card Case in Brown or Black – $49.90 ($68)

Available through the Gilt-Like site Rue La La.  Other color combos available through Coach for full price.

Ah.  Coach.  Somebody get the zero-tolerance logo guys a bucket.  They’re about to lose their lunch.  Same goes for the manly men.  Yes, it’s a bit… indulgent.  But $50 for a card case is relatively reasonable.  And not everyone is the type to carry around the 100-year-warranty boot leather thick Saddleback (which is a wildly nice case by the way).

Since the comments seem to have taken a turn for the caustic lately (seriously, some fellas out there need to ease on up off the caffeine), there’s a poll below too.  Secret ballots can often produce more open honesty than the caucus-like-comments section.  Would you carry it?  Or is it just a little too feminine, despite being intended for men?

The newer, not-on-sale striped card case.  A little bit more manly thanks to the color scheme.  Pricey at $68.00

I own the black charcoal one, I like it. I don’t think its that feminine but when i went to purchase it at the coach store i asked for the card case by name she pointed me towards the female wallets in the store, I was like no i want the manly one its for me lol

I don’t think it’s feminine at all but I wouldn’t carry it with the all-over, repeating logos.

  3. MagM says

    May 2, 2012 at 4:15 AM

I can do a small, one-off logo. That? No.

    And I don’t think it’s feminine.

Not a huge fan of the C’s, that’s definitely the most feminine thing about these wallets. If it was maybe a different style of font, or a background design overall, this would be an extremely solid wallet.

While it doesn’t scream “feminine,” the word “manly” is not what I’d use, either. 🙂

  6. Mike N says

    May 2, 2012 at 6:23 AM

I only think feminine because that is the connotation of the coach logo C…. looking at it makes me think of a purse. Not something I’d use.

I am not a fan of logo details on me, especially with leather goods. But I am a big fan of branding in general; and even if I did wear logos I would not wear Coach’s.

  8. Greg_S says

Maybe I just associate all those C’s too strongly with a purse, but I find it incredibly feminine.

    Would I carry it? Yes.
Would I buy it? No. There are too many other comparable, manly products out there. I’m looking hard at the Saddleback version.

I have two coach wallets, a bi-fold and card case with money clip.  Both are awesome and I highly recommend.  I received mine as gifts but they were purchased at a coach outlet for under $30.  I used the clip for about 2 years and am about 2 years in on the bi-fold and the leather just keeps getting nicer and nicer.  No rips, tears, etc.  Just a great wallet with a small logo in the corner.

That said, the above pictured is too ornate for my liking and I would not use it.

Even though I’m not a fan of having anything with logos, the “C”s appear to me more like a design pattern than advertising.  And it may be a bit feminine, but really, who cares?  It’s a nice little case.

  12. Bill Murray says

Not my style, but for anyone who says yes:

eBay is currently having a Coach Factory sale (ends May 3rd) featuring up to 70% off. It features a couple of the Heritage cases, but not the exact models shown above.

  13. JB32nd says

    May 2, 2012 at 8:17 AM

How can you tell for sure that the items purchased from eBay are legitimate and not knockoffs?

I’m serious about my question. I’ve always worried and have not pulled the trigger on several things for this reason.

    Bill Murray,

Thanks for the tip. I checked for a Coach card case the last time they had one of these ebay sales, but there were no wallets at that time, so I didn’t bother checking this time. I picked up this one thanks to your tip:

These are sold by the actual Coach Brand – their factory store/division sells through ebay

  16. Mark C says

    May 2, 2012 at 8:35 AM

Dont mind the logos, just not a fan of Coach.

Id carry a Damier Graphite LV one, or a black/grey Burberry cardcase.

  17. Nicholas Crawford says

    May 2, 2012 at 8:37 AM

It looks like a regular card case save for the fact that we’re hard-wired to think Coach=women’s purses.

Brands like LeSportSac and Wilson don’t have that same kind of attachment.

  18. Tony says

    May 2, 2012 at 8:55 AM

Be careful, most Coach items sold by the Factory division are made for Factory.

One of the exceptions, the water buffalo card cases, I always see in store for $36; during Christmas, they could have been had for around $24…  I have a black one, I like the leather.

  19. Curt says

Pass on the card case. However, that computer GIF had me laughing out loud while my students take a final exam.  Thanks for that.

Not a fan of monogram but I do like the one with the navy stripe! It’s subtle but unique, like those tonal camouflage bags that have been recently popular.

  21. Chris Moore says

I’ll stick with my binder clip.

  22. EOB says

Let me play academic postmodernist here and say that phrasing the question in  “manly v. feminine” terms plays into the hetero-normative biases that encourage inane and/or angry comments. Stylish folks often wear or carry items that are stereotypically associated with the opposite gender.

+1 for the saddleback slim card case — excellent front pocket wallet.

I own a brown water buffalo card case/cash clip.  I would definitely rock the heritage one, but I don’t know if I would call it unique….

Too flashy, I’ll stick with the regular leather coach offers

  26. Alan Skinner says

I don’t think I could bring myself to do it, and CERTAINLY couldn’t bring myself to pay that much for it – even on sale. I found a Ben Sherman card case that suits my needs at Marshalls for like $6 or $7. For something that’s going to spend so much time in my pocket, I don’t need to spend a lot.

That being said, I do own a Mont Blanc full-size wallet that I use when I want to carry everything and the kitchen sink. BUT… I bought it when a local Mont Blanc store was closing and only paid about 20% of the original price.

    Judging by those pictures, no.

I carry the Burberry card case everyday but not sure I LOVE this one. I do feel coach is targeted more to women than men but for the price point, I think it is a great deal compared to $165 that I paid.

I have the full on billfold from Coach, the only problem is that it’s wearing out 🙁

  30. Dara says

nope, not a chance, Coach has built up a blingy reputation. Its not exactly Kate Spade/Jack Spade now is it?

  31. UA34 says

i dont like obvious logos on anything from those obnoxious polo with the huge polo horse to the gucci “g”. coach should do something more simple. i got a leather tumi card case from nordstroms and its plain black with “tumi” in the bottom right of the card in small letters.

  32. Jacob says

    May 3, 2012 at 4:25 PM

I think that if you were to get rid of the opposite facing C’s and made the “Coach” logo just a bit smaller, it would be pretty nice. Even if you didn’t make the logo smaller, the C’s are the killer for me.

98% of Coaches offerings (for women and men) are heinous, including this card case.
