Rugby’s Extra 25% off Last Call Sale event – No code needed
Spring lines are starting to hit stores and the web. Weird. Winter clearance events have been going on since we flipped from 11 to 2012. And this is the last of it. Sizes are running short, and stock is getting in low supply. Efforts have been made to keep the picks within a decent size range, but know that can change quickly.
Free shipping doesn’t kick in till $125, and the extra 25% off comes once you dump the item in your cart…
.
Rugby Shetland Wool Elbow Patch Crewneck – $37.49 ($98.00)

Down to four color options and sizes are scattered. Camel, Grey, and Navy are the standard do anything colors left. And then there’s yellow. Which no doubt, some of you can pull off.
Black/Grey Herringbone vest – $74.99 ($178)

Was pushing $180. Ouch. Now down to $75 which is a decent price. What makes it is the tweedy looking front, with a cotton instead of silk/poly back. Less shine = good.
Surcingle Striped Cotton/Leather Belt in red – $18.74 or green – $24.99 ($59.50)

The red is the only one that gets the extra 25% off treatment. But $25 seems awfully fair for the more versatile green. Sizes are starting to get limited, so now would be the time if you’ve been waiting to pounce. Again, free shipping doesn’t kick in till $125, so if this is the one and only purchase, you’ll get dinged hard on that.
Shawl Fleece Pullover – $52.49 ($128)

There is a LOT going on with this thing. Too much for most. There’s the ribbed collar and cuffs, the stripes, and the reinforced quilting on the shoulders, which looks an awful like those shoulders on the big brother brand’s custom fit RL rugby. Skip the grey with the obnoxious logo. The black doesn’t seem to have it.
Chesterfield Overcoat – $172.49 ($429)

Male, black tie event attendees are supposed to show up in a Chesterfield Top Coat. It’s the traditional coat to be worn with a tux, and not many of us have that many occasions to worry about that kind of thing. But this one has the velvet back collar and the ticket pocket is a nice touch. An investment. Sizes are getting short quick.
Checkered Card Case – $35.00

Actually, not an extra 25% off and not even one of their sale items. Instead it’s a new arrival. One of those cracks of color that a minimalist might like to have in his pocket and bring out every once in awhile when paying.
Striped Cashmere Scarf – $63.74 ($148)

The pattern is awesome. It’s cashmere. But it’s still over sixty bucks for a scarf. Hemming. Hawing.
Tartan Newbury Jacket – $127.49 ($398)

You knew this was going to be here. Not everyone’s favorite. But it’s tempting for a lot of us now. Ships free too since it’s just above the $125 threshold.
The extra 25% off select sale items sale ends at… actually, they aren’t saying. So who knows…
Nothing against the Tartan Jacket itself, but the whole thing that guy has going on? Terrible.
Yeah, I’d wear that minus the sweater. Oh and minus the boots. Damn.
Ever heard of anchoring? My theory is, by showcasing over-the-top prep, it convinces the consumer that being just moderately preppy is a safe choice. It makes the Newbury jacket, by itself, look more appealing.
oops, this is in response to Mike N’s post, above.
That jacket is the Dappered item that won’t die.
Whoa, great price on that sweater.
Lots of elbow patches on trend these days. Not for my tastes, unfortunately. The overcoat here looks handsome and great.

My prediction is that elbow patches will be the epaulets of 2012
Loving the card case.
is it just called “last call” or is it a “final sale” like how jcrew does it?
so i received my order today. the shetland crewneck with the elbow
patches is actually pretty nice. very shaggy but the fit is nice and the
elbow patches definitely give the sweater a nice detail to break up the
boring old look. wish i could have gotten the navy in medium instead of large but it’s not too bad.
the tartan jacket though… ugh. the color and pattern are not quite
what i was expecting. but i could live with that… it’s the fit that is
way off. i ordered a medium although i am a 40R hoping for a nice tight
fit out of the box… but the jacket is still too loose. the shoulders
are ok but the chest is ROOOOMY. not sure if i want to throw any money
into tailoring this
