J. Crew 20% off Orders of $150+ with code FABFEB
Code is good on regular, sale, and FACTORY merchandise. Expires Wed. 2/22/12
One hundred and fifty dollars. That’s a lot of money. So much so that in all honesty, it’s not that great of a deal for most of us who shop for one small piece at a time. But if you’re looking to spend some big money, on say a Wool Ludlow Suit or a pair of Red Wings, or perhaps the FACTORY Cotton suit jacket & pant (now a silly $120.96 w/ the code. One opinion: it’s worth it. Full review later this week…) then the extra 20% off code FABFEB can be awfully nice, since J. Crew doesn’t usually do site wide codes.
The other strategy is to hit the sale like a buffet. Lots of smaller stuff, one plate, and all of a sudden it’s a deal. The suggestions below are ready to wear now, but won’t have to be stashed once winter comes to a close.
.
FACTORY Washed Button Down Slim Fit Shirt – $36.75 ($52.50)

One of those items that you can use in a ton of different ways. Over a t-shirt, under a sweater, over a t-shirt and under a sweater (yeah, you can layer that much) with a relaxed summer suit and cotton tie when it gets warmer… the list goes on. You’ll have to use some starch to get it to get nice and crisp for more dressed up situations, but it’s a do almost anything shirt & pattern.
J. Crew Charcoal Buffalo Plaid Wool/Alpaca Scarf – $29.99 FINAL SALE ($48)

There’s still plenty of time left to use this. You can wear it clear into spring on those nights where it’s cool, but a light jacket would be cumbersome over a blazer. Blazer, gloves, this, and you’re set. It is a final sale item, so you can’t return it.
Tretorn for J. Crew Nylite Sneakers – $65.00

$65 seems a little steep, but with the extra 20% off discount these land at a much more palatable $52. That’s right in the wheelhouse for canvas sneakers, and these are just different enough. The grey color is as versatile as it gets. Full review over here in case you missed it.
FACTORY Slim Pocket Tee – $12.95 ($18.50)

Sometimes you get sick of polos. Sometimes a plain t-shirt feels too blank and underwear like. The inbetween is the pocket tee. They get hardly any respect, but the pocket along with the slim design of this one makes it the perfect companion to chinos or jeans on the weekend. And feel free to put something in the pocket. Y’know, cash, some notecards to write ideas on, a grocery list… Get some use of it since it’s there. This is the year to thin out all those graphic tees and add something with character. These are a real good option.
FACTORY Socks – $5.95 ($8.50)

Getting awfully close to the $150 at this point (current total cost: $144.69) So… socks. Perfect for those times in college when you had to warn your roomate to not “come a knockin,'” they can tip the balance on a threshold promo code, and they work real well on your feet too. Some louder options here, just keep the rest of your outfit subdued.
Final Total: $150.64
After FABFEB is applied: $120.51
Is that still a good chunk of change? Yes. So, it all depends on what you’re looking for.
The extra 20% off code FABFEB is set to expire on Wednesday 2/22/12…
Worth noting that free shipping doesn’t kick in unless your order is $175 or over. I got myself the Tretorn sneakers and some henleys which I felt were good value (around $23 each after the discount).
Actually, FabFeb makes it $150 for free shipping.
Got a few of those Factory shirts when they were 30% off. They are really nice.
most of the stuff i want like this dont ship till April Abingdon laptop bag i cant wait that long for something i need now.
Wait – you’re right. They keep changing it. Sorry for any confusion!!
Just my opinion here, but I feel like those factory tees don’t wear nearly as well as the ones from regular J Crew. And actually since then, i’ve become a fan of the ones from old navy.
I love that cotton suit, but, even before the sale, the smallest jacket size is 42 and none of the pants go longer than 32 inches. What the heck, J. Crew?
What if say I only wanted 1 item, but I order additional random items to get my order total above $150, but then return everything in-store, except the 1 item? Do I still get to keep the discount + free shipping savings for my 1 item?
Probably so. I know that with Express if you buy two items like Buy One Get One 50% off, and take back the full price item, you get the price of that item back and still get the other one for 50% off.
I don’t know if the factory socks are the same dimensions as regular J Crew socks but, if they are, be warned that they won’t fit unless you have huge feet. I wear a size 12 shoe and when I put on any of my three pair of J Crew socks (bought about 6 months ago), the colored part on the heel rests on my achilles tendon. It looks terrible unless you’re wearing high ankle boots. I’ve tried pulling them on as loose as possible and it only helps a little. That’s what I get for not trying on before buying — I just figured it was cheap enough and J Crew usually fits perfectly.
This is why my size 8 feet and I never buy “one size fits all” socks. A contrasting heel patch halfway up my calf is not a good look.
I work at express. What we do is split the difference. So instead of keeping one item at 50% off you get 25% off of the one you keep. Next time you buy something with a discount you’ll see a different price under the item, that’s the return price. So you still keep a portion of the deal but not the entire thing. I’m guessing that you’d be able to get away with it. It must be one nice item because that’s a lot of trouble to go through for a 20% off discount. Go for it though, i doubt that they’ll give you trouble over it.
Agreed. I wear an 8.5 in most dress shoes and often resort to buying solid color women’s socks because one size fits all is anything but. Any particular vendors where you find decent looking sized socks?
On the subject of socks, I prefer the knee high type (higher up then normal calf length variety) but am seeking some of the bolder striped and vibrant color combinations currently available, can anyone recommend a source/designer of this configuration? Thanks
Has anyone tried the factory slim fit shirts? Any thoughts on the fit?
