Jack Spade Waxwear Pocket Brief – $108.75 w/ DOTHEMATH ($365)
*The code DOTHEMATH is good for an additional 25% off all sale items. Any item that’s marked down by 50% of more, like this case, is a final sale item and can’t be returned. You can sign up for their email list to get 15% off your order, but the codes won’t stack.
So you’re a serious guy who likes to be taken seriously. And thus, wearing a jaunty bow tie to your next business meeting is out. Same goes for yellow shoes. You like a bit of color here and there, but you’re also a minimalist. One answer to the question of “how do I work color in without looking like a dandy?” is a briefcase like this.
It’s far from a traditional attache. Waxed canvas, blue in color, but slim and clean enough with its lines that it’s noticeable but not annoying. Is it buttoned up enough for some high-rise law firm? Probably not. But if you’re in that big workplace swath inbetween, it’s a nice mix of new school and subtlety.
Really on sale with the extra 25% off code.
Prefer leather? Their grey leather Davis briefcase is also on sale. Comes down to $196.87 with the code…
I try not to do this, but do you mean “new school and subtlety,” Joe?
ah yup. Annnd fixed.
Nice looking bag, but utility is on the low end. This is not really a messnger, but more of a document case with some exterior pockets. I’ve always wanted a Jack Spade messenger, but even found those to be too compact (then again if you do work in a high rise law firm as I do you probably carry a computer case or messenger and drag a rolling file tote behind you). The thing I like best about Jack Spade waxwear is the richness of the colors.
Love the David leather in person as well as online, but the i feel its a bit too thin to be useful if you happen to need to bring a laptop with.
Joe, any good suggestions on a duffel that is good for the gym, but still nice enough to be a weekender? I was hoping to grab one of the Ernest Alexander duffels from Bonobos (I think you covered this bag a while ago), but it seems like they’re gone for good.
Big fan of this one that Primer did a feature on: http://www.primermagazine.com/2011/spend/duffel-bag Made in the USA too. Real affordable.
I’ve got a Beckel Canvas bag and I love it. I got the War Bag which is a little bigger, more of a weekender bag. It is cheap, attractive and it is tougher than a pack of ninja tigers on steroids.
One tip, the company is pretty much a mom and pop operation and they generally sew the bag to order so feel free to ask them to add internal pockets or any other options if you want. Also, they should have other colors available than their standard white, too.
Both the Possibilities bag and the War bag look amazing! And reasonably priced. Thank you both (ABT and Joe) for the heads up. This is exactly what I was looking for.
It’s all Primer. Great find by those guys.
In love with this one, but sadly, they don’t ship to Canada.
Just got mine yesterday- perfect size for a laptop, some papers, and a power cord. Jack Spade products are top drawer.
