Orient Watch Giveaway – December 2011

December 1, 2011 By Joe | Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. Also, we take your privacy rights seriously. Head here to learn more.

The 12 Months of Orient: Thresher Ion Plated Automatic- $175 w/ DapperedDecember ($350)

The Orient Watch Company has a dedicated following for good reason.  They’re the only watchmaker whose foundation is a wide range of incredible looking affordable automatics, & now they’ve partnered up with us to give away a different watch for an entire year.  Every month we’ll review and give away a different featured watch, plus you’ll also get a new promo code good for 50% off ANY watch at OrientWatchUSA.com for that month.

UPDATE: As of late February 2012, Orient has decided to no longer honor codes that delivered 50% off. Those codes are now worth 30% off. This is a new regulation that affects all of their promotional agreements.

If you’re not into ion-plated watches, the Thresher just might change your mind.  It’s not overly militaristic and the listed case diameter of 43.75mm wears much, much smaller.  When set next to the smallish Timex Weekender, it doesn’t look that much bigger.  So don’t be scared off by the diameter.

The ion plated links have very little shine to them, so while it’s easy to notice, it’s not obnoxious.  Like all Orients it has a good weight to it, but it’s not some wrist brick either.  No skeleton case-back on this one, but you can feel the oscillating weight move around if you swing it gently to help wind it.  This is a small thing, but Orient knows how to make a great feeling bezel.  The Thresher’s not only moves easily, but once you click it in place you know it’s there to stay.

Comes with the day and date function, and a water resistance rating of 100m.  Their website says the Thresher has a screw down crown, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.  At least, not on the model that’s being given away here.

Sword style hands and no numerals give it a sporting / tactical look.  It’s a hell of a good looking weekend watch, and due to its relative subtly could pull work duty every so often.  A perfect gift for the type who’d rather go to the gun range than a wine tasting on one weekend, yet do the opposite the next.

Here’s how to win the Thresher seen here:  Send an email to contests@dappered.com with the subject: Orient December.  One entry per person.  Deadline for entry is 11:59 pm ET on 12/3/11

UPDATE:  Congrats to Liam B. who won the random drawing for the Thresher.  Continued thanks to Orient for participating in this year long once a month giveaway series…
