Most of us have seen a promotion like this before. A retailer picks a week, then each day that week a different section of their goods goes up for a major discount. Brooks Brothers started the week with cashmere, yesterday was outerwear, and today they move on to their much easier to afford and quite giftable men’s accessories, all of which get the 40% axe. Along with the fact that they’re usually cheaper by nature, fit isn’t going to be an issue with accessories most of the time. Here’s a few worth considering:
.
That’ll work. Maybe they’ll get excluded from the sale, but if they’re also getting the 40% markdown, then these are about as good as it gets for Ray-Bans from a trustworthy source. There’s not a pair of sunglasses on the planet that’ll look good on every face shape, but the flat bottomed Caravan and slimmed down New Wayfarer come pretty close to looking great on just about everyone. More on the New Wayfarer here.
The bold scarf is the bold sock of winter 2011. Everything else you’re wearing is probably pretty subdued, so a bolt of color around your neck isn’t a half bad idea. Plenty of colors in the rugby cotton, which is “imported.” The wider merino scarf is made in Italy. Which, means it’s also imported, but… y’know, that’s… oh whatever.
It’s hard to look especially classy in a watch cap (even though plenty of us reach for it when the temps dip into the teens) but these might be the rare exception. Rib, almost cable knit, merino wool, with a “water repellent Teflon finish”? Non-stick too. All right then.
It doesn’t get more manly than a Saddleback, but football leather is kinda genius. Not a hard sided attache by any stretch, and way out of range at full price. Under $240 sounds much better.
A splurge of a gift for some, but it’s made in the USA, sterling silver, and ten more bucks gets the recipient’s initials engraved on it. A preppy, but still nice and personal touch.
The Brooks Brothers version of the striped canvas belt. Comes with leather ends that won’t slip throughout the day. Made in Italy, and still expensive even after the discount.
Proof that prices are going up everywhere. The snapper cuff links were $165 back over the summer. Now they’re just shy of $200, but under $120 (ouch) with the discount.
The 40% off Brooks Brothers Accessories Sale ends tonight at 11:59pm E.T.
