Ralph Lauren Lined Leather Moto Glove – $52.36* ($88.00)
UPDATE: These just went on sale via the Ralph Lauren Private Sale. Use the code NOV0307 (those are zeros) for an extra 15% off to get this price through November 7th.
I know. Ouch. Expensive. $90 is a lot for one pair of gloves for many of us, but hear me out.
They’ll go on sale at some point. The above pair cost around $55. And while that’s still expensive when you can pick up a pair of no name leather gloves at Kohl’s for, what like $30 or $40? Here’s what they have going for them:
- They come with Thinsulate, so they’re decently warm.
- They’re lined with lambswool. Also a plus.
- The snap buckle at the wrist is keeps them from being boring.
- The quilted pattern makes them a nice mid point between full blown driving gloves, and those generic three stitched line leather gloves almost every guy on the planet seems to have.
For what it’s worth, they’ve held up quite well. Haven’t babied them in the least either. They even went through the washer once on accident and came out just fine on the other side. They do seem to run a little small, and I had to exchange a medium for a large. Never thought of having gigantic hands, nor are they small.
Available in black and brown, and during a 25% off sale they’d run $66.
Also an option: Calvin Klein’s wrist detail leather gloves for just under $50 (update: $39.00. CK is running a 40% off accessories sale through 11/9) They don’t have the quilted pattern, but they do have some texture by way of a pebbled instead of smooth leather exterior. Should get cheaper with a code of some kind the next time one pops up. What are your go-to gloves? Leave your pick below.
I’d go with the CK gloves. I prefer the simpler design and would rather have a flashier scarf as the accessory that pops.
I love those RL’s. Always have ever since you showed them last year. Fantastic looking gloves.
Cheers,
Ben
I have a pair of brown riding gloves I like because they’re made to take abuse, but they don’t quite look dressy enough with a coat and tie. Finding good gloves is a hassle and there aren’t that many different designs out there.
Cashmere lined brown gloves for $1 more at

Love the quilted RL ones will have to wait until those go on sale though. Last year I got a pair of Polo gloves that look just like those CK’s for $30 at Marshall’s at the beginning of winter.
Cashmere lined gloves aren’t that warm, the cashmere is very thin and yea it’s a step up from cotton lined but it’s not worth 90 dollars. Especially when I can get them at Macy*s or Nordstrom Rack for 25-29$ in full leather.
Prefer rabbit lined gloved.
Uniqlo is currently selling brown and black leather gloves that look similar to the CK’s without texturing. They include the dual snap and go for a whopping $12.95.
For those that don’t live in New York: http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daily-ticker/japan-uniqlo-next-great-american-retailer-134422231.html That’s Uniqlo. No e-commerce yet…
I agree, rabbit lined leather gloves (preferably from Italy) are the best!
Rabbit? You just blew my mind.
I cannot stand the three squiggly lines on the back of most gloves. I have those “Bentley” cashmere-lined gloves Tom Kin Ta mentioned above, but I got them at J. Press a couple of winters ago during one of their sales. While it’s true that cashmere is not as warm as, say, gloves with Thinsulate, they’re fine for most cold days and they feel great.
$61.60 + 15% off at polo.com right now.
Yep. Just updated with that extra 15% off code.
Just purchased. With promo code, shipping and tax, $65.34. Looking forward to getting my purchase. I acted fast on this one. Gonna love when they come in!
I wonder why none of these gloves seem to come in a size small. Hmm.
These gloves are way too tight. I tried these only last winter and found them to be difficult to fit in a Large, but too big in XL.
As stated above: “They do seem to run a little small, and I had to exchange a medium for a
large. Never thought of having gigantic hands, nor are they small.” Don’t know what to tell you. Hands are like feet. Someone will say “these run too small” while others will say “they’re true to size.” Way too tight for you perhaps, but not others. Stinks they didn’t work out for you though, gotta say I love mine.
I have the CK gloves and I love them. One season in and they are broken in perfectly. The RL gloves are awesome, but I have everything I need in the ones I have. Would love to pick up something in dark brown if I had the chance.
