Lord & Taylor’s End of Season $40 Sport Coats

Black Brown 1826 Ticking Stripe Jacket – $41.99 | Seersucker Sportcoat – $41.99 ($225)

Use code STYLE for the extra 25% off to get this price.  Both originally priced at $225

Full honesty here.  These both look like projects.  Your tailor might have to hack the hell out of them and they’re risky at best.  But maybe, just maybe, they could end up being a favorite at a dirt cheap price.

Here’s to hoping these look better in person than they do online.  The seersucker sport coat looks the most homely by far.  Maybe that’s because both buttons are buttoned and the slanted/hacking jacket pockets seem to wonk up the front with the vertical lines.  The lapels also look like they could be pressed down another inch or so towards the buttons.  Just a couple of issues with that one.

The Ticking Stripe jacket looks like it has more potential as a year round casual sport coat.  The true blue should look better than decent with dark wash jeans, cords, etc, and it looks like it could be a cheaper replacement for the now on sale J. Crew Striped Twill Ludlow.

They’re from the L&T house brand Black Brown 1826, and the full retail price of $225 seems more than a little inflated.  But at this price are they worth the risk?  Leave your take in the comments, especially if you’ve seen either in person.  Shown below, the on-sale J. Crew, now $90.99 on FINAL sale w/code MUSTSHOP.
