Banana Republic
25% off Site Wide Sale: Use code BRAUG25
25% off is decent. 30% is usually a good line of demarcation. 40% is a jump-on-it because 40% off doesn’t happen that often type of sale. That said, when a 25% off site wide sale happens, it’s worth a look since selection when it comes to sizes and sale items can be much more plentiful than in store. That seems to hold true for this one, with plenty of already reduced items coming in at more like 40 – 50% off.
Free shipping, as with all GAP Inc. brands, kicks in at $50 and you can cross pollinate with the tabs in the upper left corner. The code only works on BR items and expires today (Wed. August 3rd). Here’s a few in-person picks:
.
Cotton Cashmere Sweater – $33.38 (44% off reg. $59.50)

The blending of cashmere into cotton sweaters seems a little overrated, but with this one it smooths it out and keeps it from being too bulky or spongy. Comes with a raglan-ish looking sweep seam which makes it a little more casual, but not in a bad way. Nice fabric, great size and color selection, a solid deal at just over thirty bucks.
Silk/Cotton/Cashmere V-Neck – $39.38
(44% off reg. $69.50)

The current reigning champ as far as V-Neck material goes. Now if they’d just raise the dip of the V by about an inch and a half and widen the collar ribbing… then we’d be set. Full review here.
Cotton Motorcycle Jacket – $97.50
(reg. $130.00)

Motorcycle jacket in collar style and simple pocket layout only, being that a cotton jacket like this probably won’t do much for your torso if you dump your Triumph. Light, comfortably trim through the sides (but not tight) and a great navy color. Seems to go real well with chinos. Jeans will be fine too since the smooth texture of the jacket will contrast enough with the denim.
Chambray Striped Shirt – $39.38
(44% off, reg. $69.50)

The material on this shirt is more than nice. Thick but not weighty, has a good feel against your skin, and the double work wear pockets aren’t too boxy or intrusive. Can easily be worn under a blazer with a wool or cotton tie. Comes equipped with collar stay slots which is an advantage that honestly can’t be underrated.
Cotton Fleece Crew – $29.63 (reg. $39.50)

If there’s such a thing as an upgraded sweatshirt, this is it. Pull it over a collared shirt (like the chambray version shown) and you’re set for a real quiet night at home with the significant other. All while not looking like total hell. A warning: This sucker is trim. Think Ralph Lauren Custon Fit trim.
Refined Cotton Cardigan – $44.63 (44% off, reg. $79.50)

As always it could be different where you’re at, but these are still at full price at the BR nearest the Dappered home offices. $80 is too much. $50-$60 is about right. $45 is a deal but it doesn’t ship free. As with all cardigans, if you’re boxy up top, it’ll just draw attention to how boxy you are… up top.
San Marcos Wingtip – $78.75 (44% off, reg. $140)

Reviews on these are all over the map. They look pretty good to great in person, albeit a little wide through the front of the shoe. Quality is sketchy at best. But they are $80. Ships free since they’re over $50.

Hey Joe, what size are you wearing on that cotton moto? I’m guessing M… which is conveniently out of stock….
Could you mention what sizes you are wearing in all of the pieces you try on in-person? Since we know your dimensions, I think this would help also.
Medium. Stinks it’s outta stock online.
Sure thing. Like you said, over here: https://dappered.com/2011/07/joes-measurements/ I mentioned that my commercial sizing is almost always a medium. These are all mediums too. I’ll be sure to make a note if I size up or down on in-person stuff in the future. Thanks!
Um, them sleeves ain’t raglan.
You’re right, they’re a weird kinda hybrid: https://dappered.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/BRSweaterSleevesClose.jpg but I like it. The seam sorta sweeps from the back and down instead of straight across and it gives it a bit of a raglan look/feel Changed it up above.
I ordered a large, but wear a medium. According to their return policy, you should be able to order this item and return it in-store for a different size. So that’s what I plan to do.
What are your sizes Joe? I’m 6’2″ 220 lbs, in Athetic Build. That medium v neck looks great on you.
Here’s all my info: https://dappered.com/2011/07/joes-measurements/ I almost always wear mediums. The angle of the pic might be making the sweater look a little less boxy than normal.
Hey Joe, what pants are you wearing in these pictures?
The BR 5-Pocket Canvas straight fit: http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=789685002&tid=braff2178999&ap=2&siteID=brafcid105 Sold out online, but maybe take a swing through a store if you have one nearby. They seem to be on the sale racks. I’m a jeans addict, and don’t really like chinos all that much. These are the perfect inbetween. Plenty lightweight for summer too. I’m a fan for sure.
Thanks Joe! The pants definitely style well with your picks in this article. I’ll try and hunt for these when I stop by to search for the moto jacket. I really wish BR would have better stock of certain items. I wanted the blue micro strip blazer you featured a couple weeks ago, but lo and behold size selection was quite sparse despite being under their “new arrivals” section. Of course I couldn’t find any in the brick and mortar stores :/ That’s what I get for being a 38/40 chest, 31/32 waist, medium size, and not being on the ball.
The code isnt working for me…plus the pants Im looking at are still the regular price.
The code expired on the 3rd.
