Luminox Atacama Day/Date – $312
* ($465) | Bertucci A-3t Desert Field Watch – $68
* ($160)
*Here’s how this works. The code DAPPER gets you 20% off (but that could expire at any time). You’ll also have to buy the half price $60 for $120 at Bonobos gift certificate over here. They’ll email you a gift certificate code which you’ll put in during the payment part of the checkout process.
Well hell Bonobos. If you’re going to announce a new brand in your watch section the week of a big half price gift certificate sale, then that’s certainly worth netting you two mentions in three days.
$465 retail seems steep, especially when you can get the Chronograph on Amazon (albeit through those sometimes questionable 3rd party sellers) for a similar price. It’s also quartz, which will send the Automatic fanatics running for the hills, screaming and flailing their arms wildly… which of course, will only help to charge up their Seiko 5s.
It’s hard to argue with the looks. Blue dial, grey sueded strap, and the case is a deeper than your standard stainless steel gunmetal color. The diameter is a just right 42mm, and get a load of that beastly crown.
The Bertucci A-3T is a new model that comes with font and details influenced by styles seen around WWII. A bit reminiscent of the Timex Originals. And now, with the code and gift certificate, you can get it for about the same price.
Not thrilled with the sand colored strap? The Bertucci would probably look pretty slick with a black or brown leather swapped in. Also a warning: No word on when the code DAPPER expires. The gift certificate sale ends today.
Great post Bonobos definitely deserved it, great info.
Would these work with the bertucci? http://www.jcrew.com/mens_category/accessories/necessaryluxuries/PRDOVR~13837/13837.jsp
Jimmy – I just ordered one of the J Crew bands and it was too thin for my Orient Black Mako – I believe it’s just under 20mm. The Mako and the Bertucci both have 22mm bands so the J Crew bands would not work unless you like for your strap pins to show (I personally do not like that look).
The Bertucci is def a sweet watch. I know a few people with various color combos, but the price almost cannot be beat.
I beleive the J Crew NATO straps are 18mm. I typically wear a Rolex Yachtmaster, which most Rolexes are 20mm, and the J Crew strap was a bit small. Still works and looks great though. I like the smaller strap with a bit of lug showing similar to the original Bond.
Thanks a lot, appreciate it.
Bertucci isn’t a bad looking watch. But if you want save a bundle, you can have a Darch field/military watch for $.99 off of ebay. The blank ones ain’t 1/2 bad either.
