Johnston & Murphy: 30% off w/code Shoes30 | L.L. Bean: Select items, no code needed
The J&M is a select items sale. Code doesn’t work site wide. Credit to Ethan on the Style Tip
Been a good week for shoes already. Florsheim has an up to 40% off clearance going on, Piperlime has a 20% off everything sale running through 6/8 (Frye Dakota Mid-laces for under $100…), and now Johnston & Murphy as well as L.L. Bean have tossed their laceups & loafers in the footwear ring.
Both of these brands lean a little older and a little less sleek. So it’s no surprise that the pickings which they offer, unlike the silhouettes of their shoes, are kinda slim. Still, there’s some styles worth a look. No code needed for L.L. Bean. You’ll need the code Shoes30 for 30% off the select styles J&M has put on sale. Here’s six pairs worth a sniff:
.
Johnston & Murphy Brennan Nubuck Wingtip – $91.00 ($130)

As low as these have recently dipped. Might just be the shoe of the summer too, this side of the Mike Konos suede which is all but sold out. Certainly wearable into the fall unless you go with the perfect for summer white. Nubuck, not suede. Extremely well cushioned. Complete review over here.
UPDATE: The Greys are $86 & the Reds are $91 via Endless. Free 2-day shipping there too… Credit to Michael D for letting us know on Twitter.
UPDATE II: Check that, the Greys are now $70.48 and the Reds are just over $60 on Amazon. Nice catch and hat tip to NKC in the comments.
Johnston & Murphy Garris Plain Toe Suede – $98.00 (reg. $140)

For those that prefer their toes sans wings and their uppers full suede instead of nubuck. Available in white and dirty buck as well, but that deep chocolate is an undeniable looker.
Johnston & Murphy Wilhoit Venetian – $91.00 (reg. $130)

A bit of a reach at $91, because that stitching at the toe might stick up way too much. The crepe sole looks great (especially on the black pair) but one of the reviews is less than kind about the quality. Also available in tan & camel.
L.L. Bean Classic Venetian Suede – $72.99 ($99.00)

Doesn’t look as sleek as many of us would like, but as previously stated… this is the regular L.L. Bean line that we’re dealing with. All leather sole and handsewn construction. The risk is these may look more like slippers in person. Ships free to you, but you get dinged on return shipping if you have to ship them back.
L.L. Bean Classic Venetian Loafer – $72.99 ($99.00)

Just like the loafers up above, only leather instead of suede. Again, they’ve got the leather sole and that hand sewen thing going for them.
L.L. Bean Maine Lodge Boot Cap Toe – $79.99 ($119.00)

Holy stompers. Too warm for this time of year, but come the fall? And if you spend some time in the great outdoors? Eighty bucks ain’t half bad. Oiled leather upper, goodyear welt construction, available in two widths too.
Bonus Non-Shoe Pick: L.L. Bean Rope Belt – $24.99 or Motif Belt – $19.99

Remember, there’s more than just shoes up for grabs on the L.L. Bean site. Selections are on sale at L.L. Bean Signature too. These are from the standard line. Like everything else, these ship to you free.
L.L. Bean Items ship free but don’t ship free in reverse if you need to return them. The Johntston & Murphy select items private sale code is scheduled to end today, Wednesday 6/8/11
Wow, perfect. Thank you Joe. I’ve been needing a solid “summer” shoe that aren’t Authentics (I live in LA…so that’s basically a year-round). Picking up the Brennan in grey as that seems the most versatile.
I haven’t tried it yet, but according to http://dealnews.com/Johnston-Murphy-coupon-40-off-mens-and-womens-shoes/469314.html you can get 40% at J&M with “shoes40”.
Darn it. I’d almost convinced myself to just get walk-overs to get a quality repairable welted sole, and then these brennans are dirt cheap (assuming that code works). Guess I’ll be complementing my grey pair with a tan color soon.
Btw; my grey brennans get lots of compliments in the grey. good, rarer color, and as joe’s said, they look AWESOME with darker blue jeans.
A word of caution on the LLBean loafers. I’m a fan of LLBean stuff in general because of it’s excellent build quality, consistent fit, and of course their bomb proof guarantee … but the loafers fell short of my expectation. The quality of the leather was awful and the fit waaay off. Perhaps I encountered a bad batch and perhaps the suede ones are better than the leather, but I’d recommend going into the store on these before you commit to avoid the return shipping.
The leather quality does appear quite poor on the Venetian loafers, obviously corrected grain. Really plasticy looking. Not sure how well those will hold up.
code invalid.
Yup, I just tried the code on three different pairs of shoes and it said the code was invalid or expired. Sigh.
If you’d like a nice suede wingtip/buck and don’t want to pay J&M prices you might want to check your local Burlington Coat Factory. Mine had tons of these… http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=20238143&CAWELAID=847772340
cost me 35 bucks…
Just ordered the J & M wingtips, exactly what I have been keeping my eye out on Dappered for, thanks! That’s why I keep coming back here.
Grey Nubucks for only $70 @ Amazon…
Other colors available but for different prices.

Unreal. Hell of a catch. Post updated, credit given, well done.
Any rules about wearing offwhite or white suede as far as time of day or occasion? Are these an afternoon only type of thing or could they be rocked into the night during the summer?
