Despite some truly over the top stuff, Express can be a decent place to pick up some well fitting basics. Their target demos skew young, so their fits are trimmer and their fabrics have some spring to them. Stick with the non-logoed options and no one will know where you got your clothes. But they will notice that they fit well.
Prices have gone up at Express ($60 for an Express 1MX? No thanks) so using codes and waiting on sales is a must. No codes are needed this time, lots of sizes are available, and an extra 20% comes off at checkout. That all adds up to prices getting dirt cheap on plenty of logo-free items. For example:

Held the #1 spot as the best affordable polo for a lonnnng time. Has since been unseated by the Mossimo Athletic fit from Target which usually runs $10. But unlike the heathered versions, the solid Mossimo polos can often be 100% cotton, and thus, don’t hold up as well. These have just a bit of stretch in them, and for $16 are a steal.
Hey look, stripes. Same fit and feel of the solid polos, only these come in three color options with contrasting stripes. A little loud for some, but a nice way to gently shake it up for others.
Some guys work in a business casual environment where they just can’t escape the dress chino daily uniform. These are about as good as that style of pants can look. They’re comfortable, aren’t cut too big or too skinny, and there’s a boatload of sizes left in the better than your average khaki “shark” color. Could stand a slightly lower rise.
Thinly striped pants is a real nice way to add a bit more depth and/or preppiness to a summertime outfit. Not puckered seersucker, but a cleaner corded cotton. Available in some darker shades too.
Maybe the steal of the sale. Problem is laying the financial lumber to get them shipped to you. As is always the case, worth checking for in-store but selection there can always be a problem. Just bold enough without going nuts. Socks in herringbone and houndstooth are on sale too.
Not sure how this one might look in person. Certainly has a bit of a modified Hilfigerish Prep Vibe going for it, but how bright is that red? Wasn’t at the nearest Express to the Dappered home offices. 3″3/8 in width.
Under $200 with an off the rack fit that many guys can wear without tailoring. Not a bad option if you forgot about your significant other’s friend’s wedding coming up, y’know… this weekend, and you’re in dire need of a summer suit. This one isn’t clearance so the extra 20% off won’t apply.
The Express End of Season Sale ends July 4th. But it’s doubtful there’ll be anything left by then.
From wheelhouse standards like chinos and sweaters, to fancy holiday stuff like velvet blazers and…

Fall textures. Smoothly suited. Dark and sleek. Etc.
In person with an iconic loafer... in a not so classic shade.
It's autumnal temptation time. Coats. Boots. Blazers. Sweaters. Shoes.
Brooks Brothers also gets in on the "sale's on sale" act.
