Sockless Sale – Piperlime Select Shoes Up to 40% off
No code necessary. Free shipping and free returns are standard too.
The terms “Select” and “Up to” usually spell disaster for a sale. Usually those mean the good stuff won’t be marked down, and there won’t be much to pick from. It’s true that there’s not a lot to pick from in this Piperlime sale, but there are a few gems with good sizes still available. That and Piperlime, GAP Inc.’s shoe store, offers free shipping and free returns with no minimum purchase (unlike on the GAP/BR/Old Navy clothes side where you have to spend $50.) All picks can be worn now without socks:
.
Calvin Klein Dean Loafer – $77.50 (reg. $130)

Black with taupe rubber soles, under $80, and a pretty smart shape (although that ridge that runs around the vamp could be a little more subtle). Could go well with a lighter linen suit.
Frye James Wingtip – $117.50 (reg. $198)

The heavily burnished toe and all around vintage look makes these a casual wingtip, but there’s no shame in that. Great brand, nice looking shape, should look terrific with jeans.
Sperry Top-Sider A/O Penny Loafer – $59.50 (reg. $75.00)

Taking the boat shoe up to another level. The black leather upper and contrasting sole would look pretty slick with a pair of chinos and a polo, or even jeans and the INC light sportcoat.
Sperry Top-Sider Canvas Boat Lace-up – $47.50 (reg. $80.00)

Meanwhile, for those that don’t dig the slip on boat shoe thing, these are lace ups that have that worn forever look. Pre-distressing out of the box isn’t the most desirable thing, but for under $50 if you want a washed sneaker/casual lace-up hybrid? These might be worth consideration. (More views over at Nordstrom)
Sperry Top-Sider CVO – $39.50 (reg. $60.00)

What, is Sperry getting dumped by Piperlime? CVO sneaker (no court sneaker rubber toe) shape in bright red. Also available in lighter blue and black. J. Crew was selling these for $75 at one point.
Timberland Classic 2-Eye Suede Boat Shoe – $44.50 (reg. $75.00)

Fire up the grill and put on some shorts. Right for the back porch or early weekend mornings.
Piperlime’s up to 40% off select shoes sale expires May 29th…
I’ve never really been able to nail down how I feel about black loafers. Loafer implies casual, but black implies more formal. I personally can’t rock ’em without socks, but I’ve seen guys who can.
Those Frye’s look great. Doesn’t say where they’re made on the website unfortunately.
Sperry Top-Sider classic boat shoes vs. Timberland suede! What do you think?
6pm is also running a sale on Sperrys:
http://www.6pm.com/search/brand/152/filter/zc1/%22Shoes%22/txAttrFacet_Gender/%22Men%22/sort/price/asc
Shipping is $3.95 and returns aren’t free, but if you are shopping for some boat shoes or sneakers and you know your size, it is worth a look.
If that Sperry loafer came with black lacing rather than the white, I’d be all over it.
I bought these Sperry Top-Sider Men’s Gold Driver Venetian Loafers in brown (for $150) last year and wore them to death – in fact I’m wearing them today.
They go with everything I own – jeans, chinos, shorts, plaid shorts, etc. Definitely recommend them.

Addendum: yikes. It looks like only size 7 and 11.5 are priced at $115, the rest are $174. I still recommend ’em, but look around for a better price.
Nice find! These have my vote for “best buck on planet earth” http://www.6pm.com/sperry-top-sider-gold-oxfords-plain-toe-white
I just ordered the Timberland suede. I think it will go with most summer outfits and give a little different look.
The wingtips are the only descent choice, the rest are heavy fad shoes (you wont wear them next year). And theres a better way heavily burnished casual wing tips – buy a new quailty pair for work and torture them for a few years.
