The Summer Suit Search – 3 on sale for $120 – $170

Lord and Taylor 20% off code – BIG | Express $90 off $250 Code – 1380

We’re flying half blind on this one fellas.  Lord and Taylor launched what they’re calling their “One Really Big Sale” yesterday, which features half off their in house brand Black Brown 1826.  If you’ve got experience with that brand (it looks to fit slightly tailored but still kinda relaxed?) leave it in the comments section below.  L&T is also running an extra 20% off code, BIG… which works (for now) on some of the Black Brown 1826 items, but not on others.

The Express code 1380 gets you $15 off $30, $30 off $100, $60 off $200, and $90 off $250… making now not a bad time to pick up an Express suit if that’s your thing.  Here’s how it all breaks down:
.

Black Brown 1826 Poplin Suit Jacket & Matching Pant – $117.19 w/code BIG ($323)
Could be a steal. Key word: could be.

Mega cheap, but sizes are all over the place on the pants.  Fit looks (looks) okay and the flat front pants & ticket pocket on the jacket seem to point towards a more modern lean.  Pockets on the jacket could be angled a little too much.  Jacket comes in S,M,L, etc…  The extra 20% off code BIG seems to be working on this one for now.

Black Brown 1826 Seersucker Suit Jacket & Matching Pant – $138.99 w/code BIG ($323)
So what if the derby's over?

Meanwhile, the extra 20% off seems to apply for the jacket, but not the pants on these Seersucker Suit Separates.  Sizes are plentiful for the jacket, but the pants are in somewhat short supply.  Will probably need some tailoring.

Express Cotton Twill Suit Jacket & Matching Pant – $167.90 w/code 1380 ($257.90)
Not bad at all with the discount.

First reviewed way back in February.  Now extra impressive for the price.  Express took most of the “sateen” sheen out of their summer cotton twill suits and it’s a big improvement.  Jacket fits well, armholes aren’t super high but aren’t low either.  A nice deal for under $170.  Perfect for summer wedding wear on the cheap.

Got any experience with Black Brown 1826?  Leave it in the comments section below.  Express Sale ends Sunday.  L&T sale ends… who knows.  For the growing archive of the 2011 Dappered Summer Suit Search, click here.

Uncle Nordy wants this stuff gone. Cashmere sweaters. Lots of chukkas. Plenty of Bonobos.

I love hacking pockets, but the cotton on the L&T khaki suit looks thin and kinda cheap.

Gotta say the Lord & Taylor jacket’s droopy [hacking] pockets do not do it for me, ditto the pants’ coin pocket. I’m sure they have their fans though.

hoo, man…I’d love a seersucker suit; might have to pull the trigger on this and try it out.  Anyone have any other places with one that might not need tailoring?  I know jos. a bank has one, but I’m figuring it’s going to need a ton of work, given their typical cuts.
