Brooks Brothers Friends and Family 25% Off Sale

25% Off Everything at Brooks Brothers – Use code 04FRIEND

Looks like it expires 5/9/2011  Credit to Shawn for the StyleTip

In most cases, 30% off is a great deal while 25% off is a good deal.  But this is Brooks Brothers.  They don’t discount much, their goods are more expensive (often for solid reasons), and this is site wide.  25% off your entire purchase when you use the code 04FRIEND.  No minimum, no select items, none of that usual tomfoolery.  Even their clearance section gets the extra 25% off treatment.

It’s also (so far) a quiet one.  No mention of it on BrooksBrothers.com.  The code is floating around out there in some corners of the internet, but it’s not being openly broadcast either.  Here’s a few idea starters in case you want to take advantage:
.

Extra-Slim Fit Pencil Stripe & Extra Slim Fit Gingham Shirts – $29.81 (reg. $79.50)
Stripes and squares for under $30.

Both on clearance and both in the trimmest fit of dress shirts that Brooks Brothers offers.  Pencil stripes don’t get nearly enough respect, and Gingham gets plenty of love.  Now under $30 a piece.  Know that the Pencil Stripe is a French cuff.

Regent Fit Unstructured Wool/Cashmere Sport Jacket – $201.60 (reg. $448)
21st Century Brooks Brothers

Already marked down to $260, the extra 25% off gets it just north of $200.  It’s rare to find an unstructured wool sport coat.  This one is a woven in England wool/cashmere blend, “soft deconstructed shoulders” and it’s unlined.  Comes in their trimmer/higher armholes Regent Fit.

Italian Silk Knit Ties – $59.62 (reg. $79.50)
Asking for a summer suit.

Still expensive at $60, but that’s how you do a bold striped knit tie.   Fabric is knitted in Italy, tie itself is made in the USA.   Tons of color options.

Unstructured Cotton Chalk Stripe Sport Jacket – $74.25 (reg. $198.00)
Price is hard to beat.

Jeans, chinos, even a pair of white linen pants.  The chalk stripe is unique (and some have said it makes it look like an orphaned sport jacket) and the washed cotton means it can be dressed up or down.  More modern fit, sizes are getting pretty limited.  Originally $200, was down to $100, now $75.

Milano Fit Five Pocket Vintage Chinos – $26.06 & Gryphon Go-to-Hell Pants – $37.14
Neither are your average khakis.

The Milano Fit from Brooks Brothers is pretty trim.  If you’ve got bigger upper legs, it might be borderline too trim.  The Five Pocket Vintage Chinos are setup like jeans only in washed cotton instead of heavier denim.  The Gryphon pants also come in the flat front Milano fit.

Extra Slim Fit Garment Dyed Oxford – $29.81 (reg. $79.50)
No nonsense slim fitting oxfords.

Lots of extra slim fit on clearance.  Good for the more athletic guys, but maybe that spells doom for that fit with Brooks Brothers?  Button down Oxfords, nothing fancy, which is terrific.

Madison Fit Saxxon Wool Plaid w/ Blue Deco Sport Coat – $291.00 (reg. $648)
Expensive, but look at the pattern.

Still a major investment for most, but now half off thanks to it being on clearance then combined with the discount code.  Made in the USA.  Natural Shoulders.  Not as trim as the Fitzgerald fit, since the Madison is the traditional Brooks Brothers silhouette, so know that when considering size.

Made in the USA Cedar Shoe Trees – $21.00 (reg. $28.00)
Cedar, and smooth operating.

Around $20 is about as low as a really good pair of shoe trees will sell for.  And these are a real nice pair of shoe trees (have a pair myself).  A small investment for taking care of your shoes.

Ray-Ban New Wayfarer Sunglasses – $89.25 (reg. $119.00)
Tough to find under $100. Now under $90.

Yay for the retail collaboration trend.  Double yay when those same brands get lumped in with site wide sales.  Also available in black, with other styles of Ray-Bans at BrooksBrothers.com

Pebble Messenger Bag – $298.50 (reg. $398)
Yeah, that'll work.

Whoa.  For those that want a dressed up work bag with a more laid back shape, here it is.  Black football-like pebbled leather with brown leather trim.  Brass Hardware.  Incredible looking grab handle.

The Brooks Brothers Friends & Family 25% off code 04friend should expire on 5/9/2011

Don’t forget their fragrances – I’ve always loved the Royall collections, my father used to bring a bottle back from Bermuda. I wasn’t aware of their “Rugby” scent. Checked it out yesterday at the flag-store and loved it. Under 30 bucks for a 4 oz. summer scent isn’t a bad deal.

Does anyone know if the Brooks Brother outlet stocks the same quality clothing as their regular store?

  3. Davelli0331 says

    May 5, 2011 at 3:49 PM

They do not. Their outlet stores get the “346” line, which are usually lesser quality, though certainly not bad.

Actually, it’s a not-so-well-kept secret in the retail world that most outlet or factory stores do not carry much, if any, overstocked or irregular (i.e. slightly damaged) items from the brand’s main line, but instead carry cheaper clothing specifically made for the factory/outlets.

See the following link, paying special attention to the last line of the third paragraph that specifically mentions Brooks Brothers: http://www.brandculture.com/blog/2010/06/when-is-a-coach-bag-not-really-a-coach-bag-when-its-from-the-coach-factory-store/

While they may have a few carryover pieces that are leftover from the mainline, they do indeed have a separate “346” outlet line, which is slightly lower in quality. That being said, it’s probably still world’s apart from every other outlet store.

And I just freakin’ ordered a new dress shirt yesterday!

Drat, I was hoping to try on their extra slim fit in a nearby outlet store. I’ll definitely give their “346” line a try though. Thank you for the info gentlemen.

Joe – whats the size on the Ray Bans? 52mm or 55mm?

  8. Jared Krauss says

    May 5, 2011 at 5:46 PM

It even works for the black fleece section.
I tried this http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=720&Product_Id=1457651&Sub_Product_Id=1457654&default_color=Imperial-blue-red imperial striped t-shirt from there, and it came to be 39.16 with shipping. Not too bad… *shrug*

  9. Joe says

    May 5, 2011 at 6:13 PM

It doesn’t say, but I’m guessing they’re the 55mm “men’s” size, since that’s the standard. 52mm are a little harder to find.

I’d be all over those oxfords if shipping charges didnt seem to undo the benefits of the 25% off…

Anyone have experience with the 5 pocket vintage Chinos? For that price, I almost feel obligated to buy them..haha.

I’m thinking the reds…but exactly how red is it? I don’t know that I exactly want a burn-your-retina-out bright red.

  12. Joe says

    May 5, 2011 at 7:41 PM

I don’t have any experience with those, but, the red LEC chinos (not five pocket jean-style, just the regular chino type pockets) get the review on Monday as part of the Palooza. They’re not as red in person: https://dappered.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/SlimLandsEndCanvas.jpg Also, the light seems to have hit the camera weird on that shot. Makes them look a little too washed/faded mid leg. That’s not the case. Ships free with SUNNYDAYS and PIN 9475

Thanks for the heads up, I picked up the pencil stripe and the gingham as well as a couple of others. I’ve been wanting to try out the extra slim shirts. I’m not super slim, I’m a 40r with a 32″ waist at 6′ and 180 pounds, but I’ve read that their extra slim was their best fit. Hope they work!

Anyone know if the brick and mortar store will honor the 25% off credit?

  15. Jcuster18 says

    May 5, 2011 at 8:55 PM

Only if you find the main line stuff from the Brooks Bros. stores on sale in there, which means they have been sent there from the sale racks at other locations. The outlet stuff is “346” labeled, and while it doesn’t “suck” (despite the snobbery in the opinions of people on Style Forum), it isn’t near the level of Brooks Bros stuff from the regular stores. It trumps places like Express for suit quality but you aren’t getting canvased jackets, either.

Those New Wayfarers are tempting… but I’ve already got a sick pair of Oakleys and should probably save my money instead. Still, nice to think about….

  17. Leem369 says

The one downside to ordering the Ray Bans is that they charge shipping based on the price, so even though the sunglasses are tiny and don’t weigh much, they still cost within the $75.00-$99.99 range with the discount so the shipping cost is $10.95.

I second this. Really want the Chalk stripe sport coat but all that’s left is large and x large, even when I checked the site yesterday. If BB does honor the 25% off in b&m, I’ll make a trip out to see if they have it. In fact, I’d buy it without the 25% off since I’m a big fan of the look.

The main store sent out little black invitation cards to hand in for 25% off everything in the store with same date paramaters. Then 2 days later they sent the catalogue with the 04FRIEND code. Recession anyone 🙂

Picked up the chalk stripe Jacket and a few shirts on double discount, too good to miss.

How extra slim fit are those oxfords, by the way?…for a 5’11”, 180 lb frame…?

  21. KevLavery says

    May 7, 2011 at 10:15 PM

So.. is there anyway I can get one of these cards, or would they honor it if I just asked?

I stopped by the local store today and the salesman just handed me a card.
