Would you wear it? The Calvin Klein Textured Lace-up

Calvin Klein Carter Lace-Up – $112.00 (reg. $140.00)

No code necessary for the discount.  Endless is running a very quiet, 20% off select oxfords right now.

Turn to page 12 of the April issue of Esquire.  The one with Matthew McConaughey on the front.  You there?  ‘kay.  That ad for the Calvin Klein shoe which is also conveniently above^?  That’s the new Calvin Klein Carter, and it just went on sale.

Most casual lace ups are far from sleek.  Especially if you’re going for a shoe with texture, and then they’re usually suede and almost always boxy as can be.  These don’t appear to have that seemingly ever-present problem of clunk, and instead come through with what could be a close to perfect shape

Available in three colors with leather, not suede uppers, and rubber soles.  Looks pretty good sockless.

But that stamped texture.  It’s unique.  It’s uniform.  But is it a positive or a negative?

I would’ve purchased it already if it was offered in the forest green color way shown in the first picture.

    Looking good.

Speaking of Matthew McConaughey, what’s up with those Dolce & Gabbana ads with him in the white shirt unbuttoned to the navel with his eerily hairless chest? Creepy to say the least…

On the subject of the shoes, design and shape is good but I don’t care for the leather. I don’t like textured or pebble grain leather. Not sure how well Calvin Klein shoes hold up. Anyone know who makes them? I assume they are farmed out.

Couldn’t agree with you more. My wife was commenting last night on how ridiculous that ad looked. It looks like they used the Madame Tussaud’s version of him. Then put eye liner on it.

I’ve a pair of CK shoes I’ve put some real heavy wear on. They’re holding up all right. Mine were made in China.

Agreed. At $112, if they were available in green, I’d order them. I don’t care for the other colors.

I’d have to see it in person. Sometimes textured leather looks like…well plastic.

It reminds me of when I saw the matte paint on the Lamborghini Reventon, at first it might seem a little odd but the sleek sexy lines and the fact that it offered in lead, make it a perfect match to my Hugo Boss suit.

Ehhhhh I dont know. I feel like when you wear a shoe like that you are making your shoes the center piece of your outfit.

Yes, to the shape. Definite No, to the texture.

I feel like that’s perfectly fine, as long as the rest of the outfit is toned down (not a bright white suit as seen in the ad).

Just a quick update on these:

I’ve had these for about a month now and I’m really satisfied with them. These shoes are great for going sockless as they are super comfortable(the cloth lining in the toe box seems to be super breathable). These match well with a lot of outfits and the texture adds that ‘little extra something’ to the overall look without taking away from the rest. The only downside I found was how quickly the these wrinkled. After one or two wears there was a noticeable wrinkle across the toes. It kinda takes away from the overall sleekness of the shoes but I’ve been keeping some shoe trees in these at that seems to have helped a bit. Either way I’ve  gotten tons of compliments on them so they’re still a great find in my book.
