Would you wear it? The Brown or Black Seersucker Suit

L.L. Bean Signature Black and Brown Seersucker Suiting – $264.00

There’s no denying the success of L.L. Bean’s signature line.  Especially when it comes to their affordable New Traditional Twill and Plain Weave cotton suits.

But I don’t know about their take on a hot weather summer suiting staple… seersucker.

They’re L.L. Bean.  So earth tones and a laid back feel are omnipresent.  I get that.  But black and brown seersucker?  Isn’t the point of seersucker to keep you cool, by way of the puckered and highly textured cotton which keeps the fabric up and away from your skin?  Isn’t that purpose kind of defeated if you’re wearing a shade that’ll absorb light/heat like one of these?

There’s also just something about seersucker that reminds me of that high end textured toilet paper.  And there’s something about the brown color that reminds of what that toilet paper is used for.  (I know, highbrow)

Traditional white base & striped seersucker can be tough to pull off outside the deep south for us in the rank and file.  Maybe the L.L. Bean strategy was to make the fabric more accessibly by ditching the hard to miss bright white, and going with the muted brown and black?  Maybe?

Would you wear it?  Or is a dark seersucker too much of a stretch?  Leave your answer below…

The black option. Sold as seperates. $175 for the blazer, with $89 for the pant.
