Top 5 Most Wanted – March 2011

Consider these to be power rankings. Whether you’re looking for gift ideas or a quick upgrade for yourself, expect these to come around about once a month. The best of the best, which you may or may not have seen already. Agreements, disagreements, and additions are more than welcome in the comments section below.

.

5. Ralph Lauren Custom Fit Rugby – $41.99 (reg. $89.50)

Much better than a long sleeved tee.

Weekend wear that’s hugely updated.  Very trim through the sides and sleeves.  Reinforced shoulders and yoke. What a rugby should look and feel like.  Solid versions also available.   Extra 30% off shows up once it’s in your cart.
UPDATE: They jacked the price back up on the stripes.  But the solids, limited sizes of course, are now $35.
.

4. Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears “Scandalous” – $12.48 | Available 3/15

Gets released on March 15th

Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears aren’t new to this website, and their next album is about to come out.  This will be something.  If you haven’t heard their first album, you can preview all those songs on Amazon.  But give “Get yo shit” a listen on their myspace page first.  Here’s a small taste of the new stuff.
.

3. Emporio Armani Black Chronograph – $206.90 (reg. $345)

On sale for a more than fair $200

One mean looking watch for right around $200.  And unlike a lot of other EA watches, which can be purposely over sized, this one measures in at a perfect 41 mm.
.

2. Filson Cover Cloth Bomber – $140 ($210) | Weekender Coat – $234 ($260)

Both made in the USA.

Not exactly black tie ready, but with warmer weather on the way everyone will be getting out their favorite cotton utility jackets.  These are a different spin.  Water/wind repellent, and the shorter bomber is on sale for a nice price.
.

1. Banana Republic Cotton Linen Blazer – $198.00 (but goes on sale a lot)

Incredible off the rack.

The fit is perfect, the fabric has a unique texture to it, and it’s structured just enough to give it a dressed up feel.  Yes you could wear it with jeans.  A bit heavier than you’d expect.  Get the full review over here.

How does a $20 chronograph watch sound? Yeah I’m cheap, so what

I own that exact $20 chrono from Nordstrom and recommend it. A friend and I each bought one mostly as a joke since it is LARGE and that’s not really my style. Neither the bezel nor dials inside are functional, but I didn’t expect them to be.

I’ve actually received compliments on it about half the times that I’ve worn it. Check it out in some of the other colors too. I also have the blue band with blue accents.

Thanks fellas, I might consider picking that up. For $20 what do you have to lose. Have you tried to replace the strap with a canvas strap?

I got the filson weekender jacket for 70 bucks out the door at urban outfitters last week. It was on sale for a 100 with 30% extra off. If you are lucky you still may find some.

I’m not a watch expert by any means, but personally I don’t think a canvas strap would look right with the size of this watch. Not only is it wide, but thick/tall. It’s not like a low profile field watch. I actually like the rubber strap that comes with it – keeps it sporty.

Already picked up the BR blazer and it looks immaculate, Got one those 50% off envelopes and picked it up for cheap. Only complaint is it feels a tad bit long .. 5’10”

Agreed with Bob. That thing at 50mm should be gigantic.

I’ve never been able to get past the cuffs on bomber jackets. They strike me as goofy.

That Black Joe Lewis song got me to re-up my Zune Pass and download. Really great recommendation there.
