The Top Affordable Tailored Blazer of Spring 2011?

Banana Republic Tailored linen/cotton two-button blazer – $148.50 ($198)

And it's pretty nice fabric.

Use code 25BRFEB for 25% off.  Code expires 2/15

Congrats to Banana Republic.  It looks like their bulky/boxy suiting phase was just that.  A phase.  The key is to look for their “tailored” fit.  Because when you do, you’ll find a cut like the one on this blazer.  Which is damn near perfect.

Much like their thicker all cotton Navy blazer, the 55% linen / 45% cotton blazer has some minimal shoulder padding and darts in nicely at the sides.  The lower patch pockets dress it down, but points to the designers for leaving the chest pocket traditional.  A patch pocket up top would make it much more difficult to dress up.

The linen gives this thing a distinct texture, and while lighter than the all cotton, it still has plenty of structure.  So don’t mistake it for some limp breezy number.

$200 is pretty fair.  It’s that nice.  BUT… this is the GAP family of companies.  They run sales all the time and are offering 25% off with the code 25BRFEB through 2/15.  Could a 30% or even a 35% off sale come along?  Possibly (it has happened before).  But selection might be limited by then.

Details of the code say it’s offered to “select customers.”  Not quite sure what that means.  I wasn’t logged in with my BR/GAP/ON account username when the code popped up, so, it should work for most… maybe?
