Macy’s One Day Sale Picks – February 8 – 9, 2011
As always, it’s incredibly tough to peg when Macy’s will launch a One Day Sale. Sometimes a month and a half will go by between them, sometimes only a few weeks will pass. One thing is certain: These are sales worth paying attention to. The one-day sale prices are some of the best mark downs in the retail industry. Here’s some of the best from the One-Day-Sale which runs Tuesday February 8th – Wednesday February 9th. Know that we’ve only picked items with a wide range of sizes. Also know that items marked with a * are “Web Busters.” In store prices may match up, and may not. Selection on all items (especially shoes) in store can vary greatly.
.
Alfani Red Grey Sharkskin Suit Jacket – $134.99 ($450) & Pant – $65.00 (reg. $125)

If you’re looking to add a medium to lighter gray suit to your lineup, good for you. The Indochino Ultimate Gray is probably the best affordable option, then followed by the Hilfiger Trim Fit. But if your budget is limiting you to $200 or under? The Macy’s House Brand Alfani Red and their slim fit sharkskin will do you right.
.
1/2 ct. tw diamond studs in 14k white gold – $249
SUPER BUY (reg. $600)

You’re down to one week. Here’s the thing about “Super Buys”: They’re usually the biggest discount you can grab. They’re a deep enough price cut that Macy’s doesn’t allow you to use any other coupons/offers with it. So it’s about as good as the price will get. Remember, for diamond shopping, in-store is best because you can compare your options side by side. Look for the most sparkle. It should be noticeable.
.
Lacoste Bateau Boat Sneakers – $59.99 ($75) | Converse Jack Purcell – $37.99 ($50)

Not a bad time to be in the market for black or white canvas sneakers. The Lacostes are boat inspired, and the Converse are the not to be tampered with Jack Purcell. Both shoes come in the opposite color too. Meaning, the Lacoste are available in black, and the JPs in white.
.
Alfani Red Slim fit PEAK Lapel* Tux Jacket – $140
($350) & Matching Pant – $60
($150)

If you’re on a budget and prefer a peak lapel, this is your best bet. The Hilfiger Trim Fit is a step above, but with its notch lapels it doesn’t satisfy the Tuxedo purists. They’re separates, which is perfect if you’re an odd size and have a hard time finding suits.
.
Hilfiger Button Down Check Dress Shirt – $38.99 (reg. $65.00)

Checked shirts like these will be big this year. And “big” is precisely what this trim fit shirt from Tommy Hilfiger isn’t. Button down collar, nicely spaced smaller check, asking for a knit tie. Was $10 cheaper during the last sale.
.
INC Dark Heather Blazer – $14.99 (reg. $79.98)

Fifteen Bucks? Really? I tried on a pinstriped INC mainly poly but with some wool mixed in pair of suit separates the other day, and I have to say they didn’t feel half bad. If this thing is anywhere remotely similar to that jacket, then $15 is a steal. Don’t follow the models lead. Leave the man jewelery at home. Or better yet, on the store shelf.
.
Calvin Klein Deauville Driver – $82.99
(Reg. $98.00)

Drivers are one of those things that’s so simple, designers keep trying to mess with it. Calvin Klein sticks with the classic shape, traction sole, and extended panel at the heel, and thus… gets it right.

This current Macy’s One Day Sale ends Wednesday 2/9.
The INC Dark Heather blazer looks like a steal and a must-buy. Only problem is when I click the link it brings me directly to the Macy’s homepage. A search is telling me the item sold out.
Looks like that puppy is long gone, online at least. 🙁
Saw the Alfani Luxury (wool cashmere mix) Navy 2-button suit for 179 during the one day sale and pulled the trigger. Anyone know how the fit is on the plain Alfani line as opposed to the red and the slim fit?
Son of a gun. Twas working this morning. ‘kay, tried a new link. Looks like Large is the only size left online. Try in-store too, but I can’t imagine they’re $15 there. That just seems insane.
Does Macy’s honor online deals in stores? I’ve called several stores and they have the blazers in stock in my size, but they are hesitant to honor the deal price..
I had the same problem. I had to print out the online ad (I don’t have a smart phone), and bring it in to the store, where the manager honored it. But they certainly don’t make it easy for you.
Joe,
I am going to head to Macy’s to check out some of these things tonight to see how they look in person.
Hope you enjoy em’. I’ve seen them all but the Alfani RED Tux. That hasn’t shown up in my local Macy’s yet. Pretty sure I’ve seen the exact same blazer for the INC, just in a stripe. It’s mainly poly, but doesn’t feel that off (to me, if it’s the same one)
It’s really different store by store. My local Macy’s has refused in the past to honor an online deal. I think the argument is that a brick and mortar has much higher overhead.
I hit up Macy’s on my lunch hour. They had great selection of Alfani Red suits some out of season and some look like new arrivals. The have a light grey 100% wool suit jacket but not the pants(available), great winter fabric though. The fit on the Alfani’s were just right over the Tommy Hilfiger that are also on sale for $269.
In my experience, they have always honored online deals as long as the item is also available online. However, as Steve said, they don’t make it easy.
Man, I think I need to get another girlfriend, I saw the studs and my first thought was “Is Joe really telling us that is ok for a guy to wear?”
I am going to head over to Macy’s and see if they have any of those INC blazers in stock, for $15 it could serve as a dinner jacket that I don’t care if something splatters on it.
I’m getting married in the fall and whenever one of these deals on a trim tux comes up I’m anxious to nab it…but is that wise? Is it essentially asking the groomsman (and the wedding party isn’t settled yet) to buy the exact same tux or is it possible for them to rent (or buy if they choose) something that’s close enough down the road?
Y’know… I don’t think the Groomsmen have to buy the EXACT same tux. There’s no issue with you looking better than the rest of them if they’re stuck in rentals… right? But if it helps at all, Macy’s does one day sales almost once a month, and their Alfani RED stuff is almost always on sale. As long as you’ve got the wedding party set 3-4 months in advance? I think you’d all be able to nab one of those Alfani Red’s for around $200… just an educated guess though, and I know when it comes to weddings, guess = too much risk for most.
I have a pair of those CK Deauville drivers in stone suede and love them. Great, comfortable shoes! Mine were only $54 at Nordstrom Rack though 🙂
Tuesday is Feb 7 not Feb 8 Can I purchase on Tuesday?
