Clarks Original Desert Boot in Sand Suede – $46.90 (reg. $94.95)
Full credit to long time reader and commenter Yakov for passing along the style tip for this one.
Not everyone loves the Clarks Desert Boot. To a lot of us (my hand is raised) the all suede upper and loose construction is just too reminiscent of slippers. But I’ve seen plenty of guys wear them, and they can absolutely look great. They’re just not everyone’s cup of tea.
They’re also an absolute classic. The casual shoe for the guy who just can’t bring himself to wear a pair of Jack Purcells or PF Flyers. Desert Boots are much more grown up, and now available for the same price as a cheap pair of sneakers. This is by far the lowest I’ve ever seen a pair of Clarks Desert Boots go for. Usually they bottom out on sale around $70.
Under $50 through Nordstrom with lots of common sizes available. Just the sand color is on sale.
Don’t like the sand color? You can get Grey via Endless for $65. The rest of the colors are full price, but at least you get free 2 day shipping. Again, nice find Yakov. If you’ve got a style tip, send it in here.
I see these from time to time in my local Nordstrom Rack at around $60, so under $50 definitely makes this a great time to buy.
Well the $8 shipping brings it closer to $60…
Great find. If I didn’t have 3 pair already I’d definitely pick these up. At that price they are a bargain.
May be time to pull the trigger on these, seems like a good price.
I assume the sand color is a summer/fall boot?
How do these hold up in the wet, do they stain?
So i’ve never own a pair of these Desert Boots and I was wondering what are people personal opinion on them. I think I want to get a pair but im not 100% percent sure.
That’s definitely a good find. They are rarely on sale anywhere. A note to any students out there, you can get 20% off at club monaco with a valid ID, and that’s where I got mine. Not this good of a price, but they were the best price I could find on them when I bought mine. I love them, although they’re a lot more comfortable with insoles. They do stain pretty easily (and I have the Taupe, not even sand), but I like them to look a bit beat up. Definitely not a winter boot though, but that’s no surprise!
Cheers,
Ben
Well, I had to bite. I bought a size 13 French Connection pair a few weeks ago but had to return them. According to the site these run large, so here’s hoping!
Yes MM, they run half a size or more large. I usually buy size 12 shoes, and the 11-1/2 I bought of the moccasin style Clarks are still a tad large. I’ll be buying these in 11.
Sabir, the best thing about Clarks is comfort. Some people find them ugly, but I think they can look good with casual clothing. Avoid rain and water. The main thing is that they’re super comfortable for a typical day’s walking around. And this price is very good. My Clarks Wallabees were almost $110.
Any idea how long they’ll be on sale for?
@Andrew: Sadly not. I once asked that question about a watch Nordstrom had marked down, and the customer service rep said it’s more about the stock on hand than it is the time its been on sale. So… it’s tough to tell.
@Alan – thanks for the words of advice.
