The Banana Republic Not Black Friday Event

Banana Republic’s Not Black Friday Event – Use code BREVENT at checkout

Banana Republic made some noise a few weeks back when it appeared (key word, appeared) that they weren’t going to be doing anything for Black Friday, and instead were opting for the Friday after.

And I’m sure that’s precisely what they wanted us to all think.

Instead they did have Black Friday specials.  And they were sizable.  40% off until noon that day to be exact.  But a lot of their customers stayed home, opting to not fight the crowds (good call) and instead waited for the not quite as good but still okay 25 – 30% off store wide Not Black Friday event which launched yesterday.

Too bad there’s not a lot worthwhile on BananaRepublic.com right now.  Their incredible trench coat is sold out (but I have seen some in stores), and their quilted more casual zip up is also gone.  They killed their 5-pocket pant almost immediately after it got on the floor, and sizes are getting sparse for their thick cotton blue blazer.  If you see something worth a second look, leave it in the comments section below.  Here’s the (few) picks from this end…
.

Anderson Boot – $105.00 (reg. $145.00)  Free shipping over $50

Slightly more sleek

A nice alternative for someone who doesn’t want the full-bore clunk that most moc toe boots can bring.  Just over $100, full grain leather or suede.
.

Cotton Cashmere V-Neck Sweater – $44.65 (reg. $59.50)

Plain, but good plain.

New, and about as close as you’re going to get to the now discontinued silk cotton blend they used to sell.
.

Moleskin Navy Peacoat – $148.50 (reg. $198.00)  Free Shipping over $50

Could be? Maybe? Who knows.

Haven’t seen this in store yet.  It’s shorter than normal, but it’s potentially a good option for a dressed down coat.

Annnnnd… that’s it.  Seriously.  This is starting to feel more like a pre-new collection clearance than anything else.  If you spy anything else on the site, or in store while doing your Christmas shopping this weekend, leave it in the comments section below.
