J. Crew Factory Wool Walking Coat – $106.00 (reg. $178.00)
Sometimes you just want a coat. Single breasted, maybe an extra detail or two, but nothing off the charts odd. If you’re the type who can appreciate a minimalist piece of outerwear, then feast your eyes on this affordable option.
Made by J. Crew’s step down brand “Factory,” it’s currently on sale for just over $100. It says Wool/Poly on the web, and it’s not specific about just where the poly comes into play. Could be just the quilted lining and sleeves, or could be a wool mix for the exterior. If any of you stumble across this coat in person, feel free to let us all know the details in the comments section below.
Nice tabs at the cuffs for an extra detail, great trench-type butttons on the front slash pockets. Unbeatable price for anything related to J. Crew.
J. Crew Factory’s online site is only live from Friday 12am EST – Sunday Midnight EST

I own last year’s model of this coat, when it was sold on the regular J. Crew web site (and at that point there wasn’t even a Factory website yet anyway, so that’s immaterial.) Material-wise, the lining, Joe has it right up there: the fabric is 100% wool and the lining and sleeves are polyester. I like the coat a lot. It’s fairly warm, armholes are high up, and I find that it’s versatile enough to go with a lot of clothing. I bought it in college when I was wearing it with jeans 24/7 and now am breaking out for office work, as my office is on the casual side of business casual and I find that a formal topcoat would be too much.
Don’t know if this year’s model is different but a cursory look at the image doesn’t reveal any major differences. Let me know if you have any questions!
I ordered one. Let’s see how it will be. 🙂

They’re doing a Thanksgiving/Black Friday special: This has been marked down a little more to $98 through Friday.
If anyone is still interested in this, it’s now down to a ridiculous $56 (plus shipping) with the 30% off code SHOPNOW. I’m really tempted myself, but don’t trust J Crew’s sizing (and it’s final sale, so I wouldn’t be able to exchange it).
How is the fit? What size did you get? What are your measurements? It would help if you could provide some assessment, thanks!
