These are on sale because of the over the top watch strap. Make no mistake about it. People look at these watches and don’t buy either one because of the strap. And that’s an incredibly easy fix.
A similar situation happened when my wife and I were looking to buy our first home. We walked into one that was just about perfect for our needs. It was in a great neighborhood, in really good shape, there were no immediate repairs needed, and it was the right size & price. But I looked at the blank white and taupe walls and immediately thought of an office cubicle. It was boring, no character. And I told our real estate agent as such. Her response?
“You know… you can paint.”
And we did. Looks like a different house on the inside now and I can’t imagine living anywhere else. Same situation with these watches. If you’re looking for a larger (these say 47mm) sporty looking watch for under $150, consider either of these from Michael Kors.
You can ditch the obnoxious watch strap via your local mall’s watch kiosk in minutes. Shouldn’t cost more than $10 or $15. Go simple and don’t even ask for a contrast stitch band. Just get a plain, flat black or dark brown band. And don’t be afraid to put a dark brown band on the black dial watch, or a black band on the silver dial watch.
It's nice when a brand warns their customers in advance of raising their prices.
