Note: The herringbone and check are 100% wool. The black is 100% cotton moleskin.
Boden just continues to impress. In terms of selection they’re not the biggest retailer in the world, but they play that to their advantage. They have the feel of a semi-well kept secret. Say you pick up this overcoat (especially in either the olive check or herringbone.) At some point, someone is going to ask you about it. And the conversation is probably going to go something like this:
not you: “Hey, nice coat… where’d you get it?”
you: “Thanks! I got it from Boden.”
not you: “Who?”
Down to earth, but with a feeling of exclusivity. And their quality looks to be a step above the rest. Here’s what Ryan had to say in the comments section after he purchased the previously featured Portobello jacket:
“…my tailor has been doing men’s clothing for 30 years and kept going on and on about this jacket. She kept pointing out parts of the lining and talking about how they stopped making jackets like that decades ago (to cut costs). As a layman to textiles, I could tell that the details were unique but had to take her word for it that they were better.”
Nice. Another advantage for Boden? Their models are the complete opposite of the pasty emo waifs from Topman, Urban Outfitters, and ASOS. Boden guys look so happy (sometimes a little too happy), that they appear to be borderline intoxicated. And after looking at these pics from their site, they just might be.
Don’t know about you guys, but I like the cut of this company’s jib. And these coats are a nice piece of motivation to keep an eye on what they offer up in the future.
