The Best of Lands’ End Canvas New Fall Arrivals

Lands’ End Canvas New Arrivals – Early Fall 2010

Lands’ End Canvas… its been awhile.  Now that the weather is finally cooling off, it’s high time we all checked back in to see what you’re offering.  Since these are all new arrivals, nothing is yet on sale.  Even though all of these pieces are Lands’ End Canvas reasonably priced, waiting for a sale might be worthwhile.  But two of these are unique enough that by the time they hit the sale rack, sizes may be limited.  Maybe.

Here’s the first few knee jerk picks from what they just uploaded to their website (and put on store shelves)
.

L.E.C. Wool Mix Peacoat – $170.00

Classic navy, and a lighter medium gray.

Look who’s throwing some double breasted wool style in the peacoat ring.  They’re nice looking coats, and although the button off neck protector is totally unnecessary, the attention to detail is appreciated.  The issue is the length or lack thereof.  A lot of peacoats look chopped, and would barely cover your suit jacket or blazer.  The description says it falls to “mid thigh” but the pics make it look like it barely gets past your crotch.  Another few inches and it would have been perfect.  But isn’t that always the case…  70% Wool. 30% Nylon for the exterior.  Nice detail of corduory for the pocket linings.  Well under $200, which is a unique price point for a coat like this.
.

L.E.C. Cotton Wool Crew-neck Sweater – $49.50

Shipyard style for the weekend or bar.

V-necks are preferred, but for a lazier yet still put together look, a rough crewneck over a patterned button up (just like in the pics) is tough to beat.  58% Cotton, 26% Nylon, and 16% wool should make it light in construction, but still strong.  And that’s enough wool to probably still make it feel, uh… “wooley.”
.

L.E.C. Straight Fit Cords – $49.50

Arctic, Gray Sky, and Golden Khaki

Fifty bucks is getting close to expensive.  But what you get with these thin wale, low rise, straight fit cords is color selection.  If the colors online hold true to form in real life, the two grays (especially the lightest, “Gray Sky”) will be tough to find similar versions of anywhere else.
.

L.E.C. Cambridge Rib Shawl Cardigan – $49.50

Wear it with jeans, cords, or pajama pants.

At 100% cotton this is less a sweater and more a shawl collar sweatshirt.  Which is great, being that I’m wearing a similar version by The Gap as I type this.  Gap sold a jersey shawl collar for about five seconds a few months back, and I somehow managed to pick up a size medium on the final sale rack for ten bucks.  Why nobody wants these is beyond me.  They’re a terrific final layer to have around the house for when it’s too cold for what you’re wearing, but you don’t want to turn up the heat.  Go with the Dark Spruce.  It’ll look best with your jeans.  And nobody wears enough green anyway.

Here’s a few sale predictions.  I’m guessing that the Peacoat and Shawl Collar will hit the sale section with decent size and color selections, while the cords and cotton/wool crewneck are unique enough that they’ll be somewhat decimated by the time the price drops. Which pieces would you wait on a sale for?
