So you’re not a Levi’s guy. Or say you got one of those Gap Groupons that seemingly half the nation purchased last month (the deal was $25 for a $50 gift coupon at the Gap. Hope you didn’t miss it). Regardless, if you’re looking for a nice quality, still affordable do-anything jean… take note that the Gap Authentic Fit just went on sale.
I currently have four pairs of jeans in rotation. A Levi’s 501, 514 slim straight, 527 Boot Cut (they don’t flare that much… c’mon), and these. A resin rinse Gap Authentic Fit I purchased about a year ago.
They’re perfect for work thanks to the not too-low rise which helps keep your shirt tucked in. Trying to keep a short in the tail Express 1mx jammed into the super low rise of the 514 slim straight is impossible. The legs on the Authentic Fit are straight and don’t look too bulky with a well tailored blazer. When new the color is precisely what you want.
There are some drawbacks. They seem to fade a little despite washing inside out on cold short cycles. There is a white printed “1969” on the rear exterior of the waistband, but it’s barely noticeable. And these jeans also fall victim to the Gap weak waistband issue. Meaning, after the first wash it’ll feel like the waistband has let out a little, as opposed to shrinking in. Strange.
Still… for $40? Or less with your groupon? Not a bad option if you need some new denim.
What’s your go to pair of denim? Do you swear by gap? Or swear at them?
