Banana Republic Fall Line 2010
Banana Republic’s new fall line is now making its way onto the web and into stores, and y’know what? They’ve done pretty well for themselves. Even their so-called New suits are getting favorable “these are slimmer” reviews online.
The colors of the new pieces are appropriately darker and deeper, but there’s still plenty of bright options too. Everything looks like it could be layered well with the rest of the collection, and although a lot of it is expensive, if you catch a sale it’ll be reasonably priced. The huge graphic on their homepage (you can see it up above) shows it all off well. Overall that guy has a great look going on. But there’s a huge misstep. Here’s a breakdown:
The Blazer: Tailored Herringbone Blazer $250.00: YES – That sure looks more like one of their suit jackets, but we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt since BR says this in the new blazer’s description: “A suit blazer is meant to be worn with its coordinating pant. The essential item blazer is meant for everything else…” Indeed. Nice blazer.
The Sweater: Heathered Cotton Cardigan $79.50: YES – Too expensive, but… that’s how you layer.
The Shirt: Textured Cotton Casual Shirt $69.50: YES – Balances it all out.
The Belt: Double Pronged Belt $59.50: YES – Also too expensive.
The Woman: Adorable Girl on your arm: YES – Always a terrific thing.
The Pants: Cargo Pants ???? –
What in the world? Just wear chinos. Lose the thigh pockets. And by the way, those slim looking cargos aren’t even available on bananarepublic.com. Maybe it’ll stay that way.
