The Banana Republic Herringbone Item Blazer

Banana Republic Herringbone Item Blazer – $250.00 (w/ 40% off coupon – $150)

Literally and figuratively, this is one slick blazer.  And for a quarter of a thousand bucks, it better be.

Originally featured in the 25% off B.R. Sale post, this tailored herringbone blazer is a standout piece.  I finally got to see it in person and… it’s something.  The contoured sides are immensely better than most other Banana Republic Jackets.  It comes pre-darted and the jacket might not even need tailoring for some of us.

One tag says it’s made “of Italian Fabric” but it appears to be constructed by way of China (that’s what the other tag said for me.)  The fabric is ridiculously nice.  It’s cotton but incredibly smooth.  The herringbone pattern and grey color are also a good blend of tradition, but the smaller pattern and lighter shade provide a good modern influence.

This could be the blazer of the season.  It’s just so expensive.  But, B.R. does seem to be running a 40% off coupon sale on Wednesdays between now and September 15th.  Buy this blazer with one of those coupons on a Wednesday and it’ll knock $100 off the price.  Here’s how it seems to work:

You only get the coupon card when you make a purchase.  At the B.R. closest to the Dappered home offices, they handed over one of these cards with a $15 clearance rack polo.  Not bad.  There are four 40% off coupon tabs on each card.  One for each Wednesday of the sale which runs Wed. 8/25 – Wed. 9/15.

The item must be full price, you only get to use it on one item per Wednesday, and they say it’s only good for in-store purchases.  But, underneath the barcode on the back of each coupon it says:  FALL40

I’m no Sherlock Holmes, but that sure looks like an online promo code to me.  Might be worth trying on Wednesday Sept. 1st to see if it’ll knock 40% off of the price online.

This is a great blazer. I’ve been wanting one of these for a few years now. In today’s casual culture a blazer like this may be more “in place” than the traditional navy.

If anyone is interested, BR has a promo code for today only. 40% off on up to two items. DG9CC6PVM8BB.

Yah know I don’t really like BR anymore. I feel their stuff is way over priced for meh looking items. Blazer included. But their blazer do seemed to be made well.

Ken, that was a unique code and it’s already been used, so I hope it was either by you or you weren’t going to use it. Also, I just tried FALL40 and it didn’t work.

Yea I asked in store and the FALL40 was for cashiers to enter if they had problems scanning a particular coupon. Not for use online. Damn.

Well, I did try on and eventually buy this blazer today. It fits very well. I like how they had distinct sizes rather than S, M, L. The armholes could have been a *little* higher imo, but it isn’t bad. I will probably get it tailored a bit more, but honestly it doesn’t really need it.

I also liked their black corduroy blazer. It fit wonderfully and looked very nice. But I already have a black blazer and wanted something a bit more unique from my current one.

I work at a BR. The blazer is great. Actually, worth the money at whatever price you may end up paying. It’s Tailored Fit as opposed to the Modern Fit of the suit so unless you’re very slim you shouldn’t really need any alterations at the waist. Also, the color in the picture is MUCH lighter then the jacket really is. All that being said I got a blazer at Old Navy last winter for 20 bucks that’s obviously not the same quality as this but, after some time at the tailor, looks nearly identical. Just sayin’

On Wednesday they sent out an email to their newsletter subscribers with the code like Ken provided. This coincided with the Wednesday coupon mentioned in the article. They will most likely be sending out 40% off discount codes on the forthcoming Wednesdays as well, so sign up now to take advantage.
