The Must Have Fall Sweater – 2010

2010’s Must Have Fall Sweater:  The Button High Neck Cardigan

Better than a pullover, more comfortable than a zip-up, and with a neck that’ll keep you warm on those can’t-come-soon-enough chilly days, the button up high neck cardigan is a sweater you’ll want this autumn.  You can wear it over anything.  Try a tucked in or untucked oxford, long sleeve tee, rugby shirt, or even another sweater.  It’s an all purpose layer that can act as your outermost piece, or… the perfect amount of under-layering for that light fall utility jacket you have.  Will it replace your stack of V-Necks?  Of course not.  But, any of these could very well become a new favorite you reach for at least a few times a week.

Land’s End Canvas Mock Neck Cardigan – $39.50 for Gray or Navy

Could be the best of the season.

The new Land’s End Canvas fall line just fully launched, and this could be one of the best sweaters of the season, let alone their new line up.  With a super-fine waffle knit, this sweater is less weighty (a good or bad thing), and much less expensive (a completely good thing) than most.
.

Full Circle Heavy Cotton Knit Cardigan – $80.86 (reg. $160) for Black or Mocha

Thicker, great pockets, and an extra tall neck.

At $80, it’s expensive but it hits all the right points.  Super-thick looking cotton knit, buttons and an interior zipper, plus you get your choice of black or mocha-brown.  Please ignore the model’s hair.  He looks awful.
.

Express Heavy Ribbed Wool Cardigan – $88.00

An old school color from a new school store.

It looks odd on that wayyyyy too cool model, but I own a similar wool-blend Express Cardigan and it has never let me down.  The gray heather color is extremely classic.  Sort of sea-salt nautical looking.
.

GAP Military Mockneck Cardigan – $69.50

The Standard.

Not everyone will love those pockets on the front.  Makes it look a little hem heavy.  So watch for it to go on sale and for maybe a few more colors to trickle in.
.

Post Road Button Cardigan – $78.00 for Green or Navy

Proudly Urban

For you higher fashion types.  A bit more color, a bit thinner construction, not boring at all.
.

Chaps Track Shop Cardigan – $48.65 (reg. $70)

Proudly Backwoods

For the exact opposite of the higher fashion types.  Probably the bigger, or certainly more casual fellas.  Something you’d chop wood and then eat a pot roast in.
