Cost Plus Sullivan Leather Chair – $199.99 (reg. $299.99) | Hawthorne Chair – $399.99
Never underestimate the power of a great looking leather chair. I’m not talking about one of those over-stuffed numbers your grandpa had. Those are the Buick Lesabres of the furniture world. You want a chair that looked like it would have been at home in an upscale early 20th century club. Something with shape, definition, that you can sink into but won’t be swallowed.
Believe it or not you can get all that in a chair that doesn’t cost more than a couple hundred bucks.
The Sullivan from Cost Plus World Market has some pretty standard looks but the sale price of $200 is incredible. If you’ve got the cash and want to spend twice as much, consider the Cost Plus Hawthorne (below). It’s sitting in the Dappered home offices right now and has become a fixture of the place.
Grab a book, grab a drink, grab the remote, or do all three. You won’t be sorry, especially knowing how little you paid for the chair you’re sitting in.
Furniture is usually so over priced, nice to see this going for an affordable price. – I want this chair.
Thanks for the great find – I just ordered mine!
Great! Hope you like it Jason. I’ve got the Hawthorne and love it. Find an old ottoman at a thrift store or on sale at Target or something, and you’re set.
Damn others have found out where my furniture comes from… Cost Plus has some seriously good deals on furniture. Check out their dining tables (solid wood not laminate construction), the only downside is sometimes the construction isn’t all that great, but it’s nothing some nails and a little DIY work won’t fix.
Just wanted to point out the chair is made of bonded leather- like bicast, it has leather in it, but is mainly polyurethane: http://www.mainlychairs.co.nz/leather%20advice.htm
Good call David, thanks for the link with the info. I’ve had mine (the Hawthorne) for a few years now and haven’t had any problems with it. To me it looks great, feels great, etc… but it’s still good to know what you’re actually getting.
