Banana Republic Water Resistant Khaki Trench – $225.00

Unlike their suits or their new chinos, this updated classic trench from Banana Republic isn’t boxy at all. It curves in nicely at the sides and you can even see how aggressive the angles are in the design of the front.
The drop length is shorter but precisely where all trench coats SHOULD end. It has enough coverage for your suit jacket, but it’s much shorter than the all too common and awkward bathrobe length.
With only two loops you could certainly get away without using the belt. The epaulets are prominent, but the rest of the trench is pretty reserved. There’s two color options with one leaning more towards taupe or brown, and it does have some weight to the construction. It’s probably too thick for a summer Thunderstorm, but it’ll work fine for late fall and early Winter..
Will it go on sale? Maybe. But in person this thing looks terrific. It’s one of those coats that makes you look 25% better than you should, no matter what you’re wearing. So don’t expect a huge selection of sizes if you wait around for it to hit the clearance rack.
Nice look. I might have to check it out on one of the Wednesdays where they’ve got their 40% off coupons available.
Hey jason where do you get those 40 % off coupons? I would really consider getting this coat at 135…
I picked them up in-store the last time I was there making a purchase. It’s a little ticket about the size of a postcard with 4 tabs that are good for 40% off for the next few Wednesdays. You should definitely check out the nearest BR to see if they still have them! Should be dark blue with white letters, if its the same one.
They were doing those 40% off on Wednesday coupons in the spring. They’re a great deal for their customers who pay a little more attention. Yeah, that coat at $135? I say do it.
If wearing a suit in the Springtime and its cool or wet, I throw on a London Fog trench in khaki, but nobody younger than 40 seems to wear them.
