Alfani Red Tonal Texture Stripe Fitted Oxford – SALE $26.99
(Reg. $45.00)
It won the Dappered.com search for the perfect dress shirt, and after more than a few months of “field testing” it’s still #1. There’s little doubt that this is the best, most affordable, and widely available white dress shirt in existence.
Macy’s really hit on something with their Alfani RED label. It’s updated clothing that’s not hyper-trendy. Along with the Alfani RED Suits, these Alfani RED Easy Care dress oxfords are the flagship of the brand.

This shirt is perfect for guys who are in decent shape and don’t want to pay to have a dress shirt taken in. They’re not just athletic fit, they’re trim. Some so-called athletic cut dress shirts still leave love-handle-ish amounts of cloth at the sides. These do not.
The collar is a dead on semi-spread and the tonal stripes add amazing depth while still blending in from a distance. If you’re a bit of a minimalist when it comes to your suits and ties, the subtle stripes give your look a real high style texture.
Some have complained through online reviews that the “Easy Care” label might be misleading. If you wash it, dry it, and expect to pull it out and put it on… you’ll be disappointed. But with a hot iron and a little starch, these shirts smooth out pretty easily. They hold a crispness but still move incredibly well. It must be the tonal stripes that add just enough extra weight without making it feel heavy.
They go on sale a lot. But if you need a bright white oxford and you’re short on time, they’re still a deal at $45.00
I wish they had a version of this without the tonal-ness too, for suits that don’t need that extra dimension. The target shirts are no longer carried in the target’s near me
If any of you have a Nordstrom Rack near you, go check out the “Nordstrom R” white trim fit dress shirts. They are $24.99 and have a great fit. They also have tailored fit which is not quite as fitted. Check out the other colors as well. Great dress shirts for cheap.
Chris, I do have a Nordstrom nearby. I’ll check that out, thanks!
Tried to pick up this shirt today at my local Macys but they were sold out. I did happen to pick up a DKNY Slim Fit dress shirt. It was on sale for about $35. Gotta say, I really like it. It’s a nice fit, no tonal texture and it doesn’t have a pocket, which is one thing I never dug about the Alfani shirt. The collar has more of a spread than I like, but I’d still recommend it.
Bryan, make sure its a Nordstrom Rack, its their discount store. Their regular stores have great ones for about $50.
I bought this shirt back in November. It fits well, but I find the collar isn’t very sturdy. I have $12 shirts with better collars. Of course this is only a problem if you’re not wearing a tie. Considering your goal is a dress shirt, I can’t say I disagree.
I went to my local Macy’s to try this shirt on, and though it fit nice and looked nice, I couldn’t stand the pocket. It sits too low – right at my ribcage, which looked really strange to me.
Really? I’ve never… noticed that. But I rarely got just dress shirt and tie. I’m always in a jacket so I’ve never noticed. I’ll check though, thanks for the heads up.
Yep I noticed the same when I was trying this shirt on the other day too. I ended up going to Nordstrom and getting their house brand trim fit shirt. It fits really well. Not as slim as the alfani red unfortunately, but the pocket is at a normal height.
