Brooks Brothers Golden Fleece Embossed Slim Card Case – $98.00
Not cheap. Hardly anything from Brooks Brothers is. But allow me to make the argument for spending quadruple on this leather card case, compared to a plain one from say, Fossil.
It’s made in Italy. It’ll last forever. The stamped and patterned Brooks Brothers trademark looks terrific. And if you’re going to splurge, accessories (but not watches) seem to be where you can get a good value for your dollar.
Plus, if you’re about to give your business card to a professional contact you want to make a good impression with… if they know Brooks Brothers, they’ll remember this card case. And thus, they’ll remember you.
Available in Black and Dark Brown
I have this card case (with only the script Brooks Brothers logo in the photo, not the window pane pattern) and love it. So much so, in fact, that I use it as my wallet. I got worried about my spine suffering from a bulky wallet so this keeps me from loading all kinds of junk in it. Two credit cards, my license, and a few folded over bills in the interior pocket is about all it will hold. But it would be great for its intended use as well. Highly recommended.
I have been looking for a nice card case, though this one is probably a bit out of my price range. Like Ryan I too use a card case as my wallet. The only difference is that I am using the card case insert that went in a larger wallet right now. So it’s just plain brown and starting to really wear (and tear). It definitely takes some fortitude to be able to throw away or stash 90% of your cards and such that you carry around in that giant wallet, but it is worth it in the end because half the time people can barely tell you are carrying a wallet.
Bryan… maybe give these two a try? This one from Kenneth Cole is black, $40, and has a nice contrast gray stripe. Pretty sweet. For something sportier, try this striped one from Ralph Lauren. The leather is a lighter brown, but… it’s pretty cool looking. Very classic American sport inspired style. Still kinda pricey at $54, even if it is on sale.
This is only tangentially related, but if you want to slim down your wallet without sacrificing storage, try the All-Ett
. I’ve used one for years. They’re rip-stop (the fabric du jour, seemingly) or rip-stop wrapped in leather, which I use, and work really well. The original model is double-height of a normal wallet, which lets you keep the same number of cards in half (or less) the thickness. They’re hard-wearing as all get out, too. Not necessarily the most stylish thing in the world, but I’ve always though wallets should be low-key and utilitarian above all else.
