“And tell him I’m being a nice guy… And tell him he dresses like a gigolo!” – Roman Nagel, Ocean’s 12
“Danny, I like you. And you Rusty. I mean, you’ve got style.” – Roman Nagel, Ocean’s 13
Can you handle some shine? Not a lot of shine. Just a little. Express doesn’t make subtle stuff. And this cotton sateen summer suit is a prime example of that.
It’s like a khaki or tan version of what Brad Pitt wore through much of Ocean’s 12. You’ll need to identify a bit more with that character, Rusty, than with George Clooney’s Danny Ocean to pull this fabric off. A cotton Sateen suit looks like a duller version of a silk sateen necktie. Not as reflective, but still, about as opposite of tweed as it gets.
Even if you lean a little more towards the minimalist side, if you pair the suit with a thin stripe shirt and a cotton or wool (NOT silk) tie, you’ll be balanced just enough in texture. Y’know, so you won’t “look like a gigolo.”
If you consider yourself more of a high fashion type, then take the cues from the model and go tie-less with a vest. Breaking it up at the bottom with desert boots is also a great detail. (Try the Guess Alexi in Ivory Suede) It’s a beyond cool look that’ll surely get you noticed.
