DKNY Stainless Steel and Leather Chrono – $131.25

Citizen does it.  Bulova does it too.  Tons of watch makers seem to think it’s a requirement to match the face and watch band of brown leather strap watches.

A brown on brown watch all too often resembles one of those old, large wale corduroy sports coats with the elbow patches.  Which is a good look for the professor types.  But as far as a color scheme for a time piece… probably not.

This DKNY Chrono gets it dead on perfect.  Brown Leather Strap, Gray face, silver accents.  Perfect for brown boots/dark jeans/casual blazer days.

Or really, any day.  It’s probably not too fancy even for a t-shirt, jeans, and classic American sneakers.

Brown Leather Strap watches are a good choice for just about any getup (aside from if you’re wearing black leather shoes),  but there’s got to be some color-contrast within the piece itself.  If the colors of the dial and watch band look like they were neighbors in the big crayola box of 64, you might want to consider something that stands out a bit more.

The matching band/watch face look works for black.  But not as well for brown.
