Being able to continue to fit into you suits, jeans, and tailored shirts should be a task you’re always working on. What good is having solid clothes if you can’t squeeze into them? Ditch the junk food from the house. That crap makes you sweat and gives you nightmares anyway. But if you think eating right is enough, you’re wrong.
Running is constantly shown to be one of the most beneficial things you can do for your body AND your mind. It’s easy, you can do it without a gym membership, and it requires little to no financial investment in equipment.
Yes running can be hard on your joints, but… if you’re stretching properly, replacing your shoes on a regular basis, and do some lower body resistance training one day a week… running just might make your knees stronger and less susceptible to injury. I know that’s what has happened to me.
A good pair of running shoes is a priority. Go for a 6 mile trot in a pair of Chuck Taylors and your knees will be screaming for a week.
Brooks makes terrific running shoes at decent prices. Here’s a tip: I’m sure you know someone who’s a runner. Ask them for a recommendation on a good running store. If they say footlocker… don’t ask them for advice on anything ever again. Go to recommended running store, and have one of the employees or the manager talk to you about what your goals are. Have them watch you run. Get them to give you a proper fitting. They should then be able to tell you what kind of shoe is right for you.
