Esquire has done it again. They ran a feature in this month’s magazine about the different types of watches you might want to have. One of which is the weekend watch. Great, simple, who doesn’t like having a less-dressy watch to wear on the weekend which can easily make the transition from yard-work to night out on the town?
Only problem is: The cheapest, non digital one is around $200. And it’s a Timex. Allow me to quote from Esquire.com:
“Looking for a relatively inexpensive SOB that you can bang up in your spare time? Here are seven options under $500, and what to look for if you want to spend less.”
I’m supremely confident that I will never have the luxury of referring to a $400 Tissot as a “relatively inexpensive SOB.” C’mon guys, you’re starting to look silly.
I know the attempt was to write an “average guys can use this info” feature but they then failed to provide a decent option for average guys on an average budget.
Try this Tommy Hilfiger Sport Watch for the weekend. Its got the red in the bezel, it isn’t too big (around 45 mm) and the band is a mix of leather and canvas/nylon. It’ll look great while doing chores and once you start heading out into the city.
All for around $90.
