Rugby shirts seem to come and go on a two year cycle. They’re like the official comet of the men’s casual wear solar system. They disappear every few years for probably a couple of reasons:
1. They’re usually littered with big bold stripes that make you look like a TV test pattern
2. They’re usually super boxy cut
3. Guys don’t play football with their pals on Saturday afternoons nearly enough.
This Rugby from Ralph Lauren seems to avoid the big bold stripes and boxy cut issues. It’s cut slim, still has the contrasting collar, and a not-too big stag and arrows logo on the chest. Looks like a great shirt for a cloudy fall afternoon.
Now as far as the shirt helping you get your friends together to throw around the pigskin in an attempt to recapture some of your lost youth, it won’t help with that. That’s all up to you.
